I've always heard it referred to as The Ballad of Jack and Diane

Accordion to the official website info it's "Jack and Diane." I had that album on LP back in the day. It's a real shame Al wasn't allowed to do it. Maybe it will be one of those classic rock songs Al will do a movie theme to?

Yes, it is.

by running with Dutch windmills
These are the lyrics

Little ditty
'Bout Homer and Marge
Her heart was as big
As his stomach was large

Oh yeah
They say love goes on
Long after the grilled cheese sandwich is gone

That's the story
'Bout Homer and Marge
Two folks I helped out
For a nominal charge

After Homer went gay
They patched up their schism
But the dude never dealt with
His alcoholism

Weird Al sayin'...

Oh yeah
The credits go on
Long after the viewer's interest is gone

Oh yeah
Weird Al had fun on this show
Even if it was just a brief cameo

Oh dear... The Simpsons has lost 3 respect points from me.

Why? I thought the episode was cute, and Al and the band got to be on it.

What makes you think that the Simpsons doesn't already have thousands of respect points?

<off to check>

At my last count it was 25,312.

3 doesn't do that much damage...

Actually, that episode increased exposure to Al in Ireland in a ten-fold manner.

(Now he has ten fans here.)
