I'm not bashing Al. I'm bashing Al's Band.
Of course, Al has his fair share of stinkers as well.

Jace, you're in the "difference of opinion" category.
I'm sticking up for you...take the compliment

Anyway I am very happy that both my review and Ena's have gone up on the CD Baby page.

I hate this song as well. If they do another song, I hope they don't make it about Weird Al and I hope they have some sort of actual lyrical structure that's not awkward rambling.
Sorry, your post was not a difference of opinion. Your post was a self-righteous, hysterical rant and a direct insult to anyone that liked the song. You could have expressed an opinion about the song without insulting the rest of the members of the forum. *That* is what more than a few of us find aggravating. I really don't give a darn if you like the song or not.
When you post something on the web, esp. forums you are subject to everyone else's opinion. If you cannot be a polite poster and then get your feathers all in a ruffle when someone points out that you are not being polite, you should really re-evaluate your fitness to be online.

That may be true sometimes, and I absolutely agree with dingo that nobody posting negatively about the song is doing it just to fuel a fire.
That said, whether it's positive or negative, it is kind of irritating when the same people make the same sort of comments over and over again. Whether it's "I think this 'Al's Band' song is awful" or "'Whatever You Like' is the funniest song ever!!!" or "I don't understand how you can't like this song, you need to give it a chance," there is a sort of..."Ok, we get it" feeling. And I fully admit that my "I only want physical CDs" comments may fall into that category; even I have to roll my eyes when I type up those posts. "Really, Anth? Again? Come on!"
But yeah, there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of the comments posted and there's even less wrong with having different opinions. Even if you disagree with posts like Jeremy's and Jace's, they at least make the discussion more interesting than a ton of posts along the lines of "Wow, what a great song!" I'm not accusing anyone in particular, but I do think there is a lot of blind praise for anything Al-related around these parts.
Anyway...I still haven't heard the song, but am I the only one who would be more interested if this was a serious piece and not a novelty song about being in Al's band? Not that TBITB don't have a good sense of humor, but I hope they don't feel an obligation to only do comedy music when they play together.

I think Jace has a point, though.
He is allowed to state his opinion, which is "Al's Band" could have been a better song. It was very below the standard we should expect.
It's an ok song on the grounds that "We're fans, we'll buy it, and we like it."
But removing the fandom from the equation, Jace is right.
It's NOT "self-righteous hysteria"
Al-fans will defend anything Al-related, and Al-gals will defend anything that involves "Al-in-your-face"
It's just the way things go.
I don't regret buying the song at all. I am very happy with it. I love the Instrumental, too. That could be worth it all on it's own.
I think the core point Jace is trying to make (and he can correct me if I'm wrong) is that we know and love Al's band. We know they can do better than this. And we want to push them to reach their full potential, instead of a half-baked "This is a story of Al's band! We'll sing it even if the story's bland! That's how it's like in Al's band!"

And again Stephen wades in with any excuse to make a misogynistic comment

This place is awesome.
Is there anywhere to hear this song without buying it?
