"Weird Al" Hamstervic! That reminds me of the episode of TWAS where Al does the infomercial and says "or I'm not 'Weird Al' Shoelaceovic" as well as other variations of that.

i didn't know where to post this, but i noticed something with two new popular songs, accordion wise...

in Girl by Beck, there is not one, but two accordions in the video, but my brother argues that they are not for the song, just for the video...

and in La Tortura (sp) by Shakira at the VMA's i noticed that my gut instinct was correct, there is an accordion in that song

Extremely generic. I havent seen the Beck video, nor have I heard the song. And I didna watch the VMA's, mainly because Al was not on. But Shakira is a "World Music" performer, and they typically have an accordion on at least 1 song. I read somewhere it is one of the most popular instrument in the world, but it was made unpopular in the US by Mr Welk

Al was mentioned on Spicks and Specks, an Australian celebrity musical quiz show, tonight. What they do is they have a game called Substitute, where you take three songs and an unrelated book. You have to sing the words from the book to the tune of the three songs, and try to get your teammates to guess the original song. Anyway, after the singer finished singing one of the songs, to the tune of Like a Virgin...

Kram: Um... what is it? Like a Surgeon, by Weird Al Yankovic!
*audience laughs*
Host: Well, on my card here it says Like a Virgin by Madonna, but Like a Surgeon by Weird Al Yankovic has exactly the same tune, so I'll accept it!

The host is comedian Adam Hills, and Kram is the drummer from Spiderbait.

I let out a reasonably loud shout when I heard that. Highlight of the week.

Darn right they should accept it. One man's "He's So Fine" is another man's "My Sweet Lord." It's all subjective.
