So my question is do you like the more tame controlled Al or the do anything-on-stage Al back then?

I would have to say the controlled Al. Cause I never saw the do-anything-on-stage Al. Unfortunely!

Also during King of Suede Al takes off his glasses... anyone know why?

Driew, I have that concert, too. If the quality is the same as mine *not totally clear*, he is still wearing his glasses during King of Suede. I never noticed him taking them off. *There were a number of times while I was first watching my tape that it looked like his glasses weren't on. But then, he'd move somehow, and you could see them again* The only song I know of that he does that for is "Nature Trail to Hell". Anyway, that's a fun concert! He was pretty wacky back then. I dunno. I like to see his early stuff, and his current stuff. It's all still Al, so I like both the wacky '80's Al, and still a lot of energy, but not quite as wacky now Al.

I also agree with whoever said it was not an orchestra. He had some extra band members. Not quite the Tower of Power like Earth, Wind, and Fire, but he did have a horn section *sax and trumpet, I believe*. Pretty cool.

You sure you dont have the 6-9-84 show instead of the 7-26-85 show? Because he doesnt perform Nature Trail to Hell on the 1985 one. I also notice on the 1984 video that it's hard to see his glasses a lot becasue of the video quality.

But he's definatly not wearing them during King Of Suede on the 1985 video.

Maybe your tape was mislabled? Becasue he does NOT perform Nature Trail to Hell on the 1985 video.

I have both of those, Jared. I was just saying, that's the only song on an early concert tape that I noticed that Al doesn't wear his glasses. Byw, if you wanted to prove he's not wearing them for King of Suede, you should have posted a pic from that song. Anyway, sorry for the confusion. I was kinda thinking the NTTH wasn't on the '85 tape. I'll watch my tape again for King of Suede, but I coulda sworn I saw glasses.

ETA: I guess he didn't wear them. I guess I just thought it was the blurry quality for that song, and I just figured he wore them the whole time. Maybe they were bothering him? Or maybe it was the Sting vibe Bobbi mentioned.

King of Suede - July 26, 1985

No worried Patti. You just didnt mention you had the 1984 video untill now (at least that I saw), so I thought perhaps your video was mislabled or something.
