Just watched the 2nd clip. Still need to try to find those others when they're on.

Everything is still looking really nice. Wayne did a great job with this.

The preview clips really look amazing. I cannot wait to see the entire thing in HD.

Will anyone take the time to upload these ads (or is there a place that you can watch them online)?

So... Did anyone else notice that the version of Canadian Idiot on Comedy Central's website (here) is a different edit from the YouTube version (here)? I don't just mean the different start and end times, the contrast levels, or the audio mixing -- the camera angles are different too! For instance, during the "Monopoly money" line on YouTube, we see Jim's face, while on CC.com we see Al's. There are myriad other differences too. It's from a different edit of the concert!

That is interesting. If I had to wager a guess (which, until this special will FINALLY air, we've all kind of done), I think the version on the Comedy Central website will be the version aired on TV and the YouTube version will be on the DVD.

Comedy Central is airing a Weird Al TV special devoted to Weird Al, so my guess is the one on their website would show a lot of close-ups of Weird Al. If you're trying to sell the singer in the title, you would want to show him a lot. Especially to an audience of channel-flippers who are basically watching it for free.

The version on YouTube seems a bit more theatrically, with close-ups to the band members and long, winding shots. With such precise edits -- edits between funny lines, like the aforementioned "Monoploy money" lyric -- it's something a hardcore fan would want to see. And what's a hardcore fan? Nothing more than someone willing to pay for a copy on DVD or Blu-Ray (or both, ya freak).

Samesies go to "Party in the CIA," which is also edited differently between the two webbysites.

Wow that is a really interesting find! Is it even the same performance of the song?

Wouldn't it be awesome if the BD has an "alternative angles" option?!?!

They probably aren't different performances because they use some of the footage in both versions of each song.

I just saw the ad for this special on Comedy Central for the first time during the Colbert/Radiohead hourlong special. It was a pretty cleverly edited mix of Canadian Idiot, Polka Face, and Smells Like Nirvana. $$$

That's really interesting about the different edits... hmmm, guess that means I'll need to snag a copy of the Comedy Central special too, 'cause I was just going to buy the DVD, but I don't want to miss a single shot (I was there for the taping).

I finally got around to seeing the available performances from this. Party In The CIA should have been faster and livelier. Al seems kind of wooden in it.

Nice end shot on CI :inlove:
