So now I'm almost as excited for the rest of the artwork as I am for the music.

That's awesome!AccordionChick wrote:Someone commented on Facebook that it basically translates into "I'm not wearing underpants", which made me bust out laughing even harder than I was xD
And even he could only get a minute and a half out of it! That's my biggest "concern" over the idea of a Pixies style parody, how much variety is there in their music to warrant the type of response that Patton had (I got the impression that the style parody hits many, many, many marks established by the band in question, rather than just being based on one or two songs). Some bands work for a style parody where it's pretty clear that Al's just working off one song ("Black Gold") but that's not the impression I got from Patton's description.TMBJon wrote:I have no idea if this would discourage Al from doing a Pixies style parody or not, but his friend Liam Lynch (who directed the Craigslist video) already did a really convincing Pixies style parody: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmGy3WAQ_wk&feature=kp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I think a Pixies style parody based on just a few songs could garner that reaction, assuming it hit certain signature elements of those songs. It's worth considering that Patton Oswalt just maybe is not as obsessed with style parodies as we are, so just the fact of Al doing the Pixies (or whoever, really) and hitting elements from some of Patton's favorite songs by that band might be enough for that reaction.Good Enough For Now wrote: And even he could only get a minute and a half out of it! Wait, are you saying the Breeders were more dynamic than the Pixies???Maybe Amanda Palmer sings the Kim Deal parts.(Now a BREEDERS style parody would be exciting!)
There seems to be a lot of confusion about the Amanda Palmer guest spot, and it's been cleared up at least three times in this topic alone, but here we go: Amanda Palmer is going to be part of one of the originals. The news of her involvement broke way, way before Al began recording parodies. So, unless she came back to assist with a parody and literally no one said anything about it*, then she's not going to be involved in a parody. It's time to let it go.Good Enough For Now wrote:Maybe Amanda Palmer sings the Kim Deal parts.(Now a BREEDERS style parody would be exciting!)
But wait...I thought we were talking about a STYLE parody, which would essentially be an Al original. Or am I the one who's confused...?Moneybags wrote:There seems to be a lot of confusion about the Amanda Palmer guest spot, and it's been cleared up at least three times in this topic alone, but here we go: Amanda Palmer is going to be part of one of the originals.
