Reading through this topic proves that Jeremy is the best at WOWAY when it comes to debating a subject.

If you go back and read this topic, nobody has argued that it is not a good tune. I love the melody of the song. In fact, "Misery" is one of my absolute favorite songs that Al has parodied over the years. What myself and others have argued, quite well, I think, is that the lyrics are incredibly weak, especially when compared to most other Al songs.

As to your argument that the accordion solo makes the song worth "the price of admission," I venture to guess that that is precisely what Al thought when he decided to "accordion-ize" the solo. I'm sure he knew quite well that the song was below his typical standards and felt that a long-desired accordion solo would distract fans from this fact.

Finally, it is certainly NOT a great addition to the album. Even fans who have defended the song admit that it's one of the weakest songs on the album, should have been replaced with "I'll Repair For You," and would have been better suited to a concert medley.

And just so that nobody can argue any further:

Period.
It is pretty substandard. I like it more for it's melody and whatnot, but that's not really Al's 'doing.' It's more a list of tv songs and has no real 'ha-ha' to it.

I've defended the song in the past, but it is pretty much a disappointment.

Much the same reason I'm not a big fan of Couch Potato. Was Syndicated Inc. a last minute addition to the album at all?
