Well, I don't skip it. Even though it sucks compared to the rest of the album, it's still worth listening to. I never skip any Al songs when I listen to the albums as a whole, not even Syndicated Stink.
It's not that I skip it because I don't like it, it's usually because ANOTHER song is stuck in my head and therefore my brain decides I need to listen to that song first. I think today I'm going to try to do it justice and listen to it and only it for a while...maybe I'll get something more out of it..

Well, I'm assuming there was a reason that Al parodied the AI peformance instead of the single. Maybe the single wasn't out when he started writing the song. It wouldn't surprise me if AI was the culprit, either. Maybe they only gave him permission to parody the performance version. I certainly couldn't see any reason for that, but nothing would surprise me with these suit-types. They make the oddest demands sometimes.
I wonder if there was any time issue at hand with the entire album, with it being a dual disc and having an epic parody of TitDT on it. Not only was Creep short, but W&N was short a verse and chorus, there was no guitar solo in Canadian Idiot, and even the Polka Medley was shorter than most of his other polkas.
WOAH! WE ARE WAAAAY OVERANILIZING THIS. I don't mind the length of the song, and the applause at the end adds to the AI humor. I'm thinking the joke would get old with another verse, and Al picked a nice way to end it.
I think this song is much more effective if the listener is not expecting its subject matter. Someone thinking they're going to hear a sweet Taylor Hicks ballad, and then having it turn into a song about a stalker . . . Is a lot funnier than when you look at the tracklist and think, "Oh, this song is about a guy who creeps women out."
Yes, the slowness of the descent into creepiness is one of the funniest things about the song.
BTW, I stumbled across a Taylor Hicks fan board and they liked it. They didn't take it as a diss against THEIR musical Idol, but agreed that Al had nailed his vocal style really well. Maybe a few of them will buy Al's record too, we can hope.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.
LOL LOL LOL... yay, im happy that hicks fans like al's song.
But I'm almost glad the second link people couldn't find it on the internet... YAY! No Hooligans!!
