great poem, but when you said "houswives or band nerds," that got me knocked of my course of reading because me myself and a "band nerd" and we do not appreciate that title, we prefer the title "band geek" and phrase in my school
Hey, no worries, I didn't mean to offend. I've been playing the flute for 6 years, and I totally include myself in any band nerd/geek category. I just went with 'nerds' because....well, it rhymed.

Nice poem, WQ!
I'm both a housewife and a nerd, but sadly not a band nerd. I barely have enough musical talent to play the...radio! (Old joke, but accurate). But I am a Star Wars nerd, a scifi geek, and an obsessed "Weird Al" fan, so I figure my nerd cred is sufficient.
Elka, your poem didn't suck, but who is Leon Lynch? Did you mean Stephen Lynch? (He's good.)

Karen, maybe Elka meant Liam Lynch. He does an excellent song that sounds so much like Talking Heads, it's eery. I liked her poem.
I tend to think geek is more offensive than nerd myself, so being called a band nerd is fine with me. I definitely was one. Great poem, WQ!

Yeah, Patti, you're probably correct in identifying the Lynch she meant. But hey, what's offensive about "geek?" Haven't you heard of "geek chic?" The geeks shall inherit the Earth, you know. Bill Gates has already gotten started. A geek is just a nerd who can actually get stuff done.
If you want to know Captain Kirk's middle name (Tiberius)

, a nerd will suffice. To get help with your computer, call a geek. Of course, I'm not referring to the original meaning of the word geek, a circus performer who bites the heads off live chickens (there was a time
that was considered
entertainment? Sick!)
On behalf of the nerds and geeks of the WOWAY, we can be cool no matter what you call us. Personally, I prefer "obsessed Weird Al fan," but w/e
Hey Patti, you played the drums, right? And now that you're a professional confectioner, you use that knowledge
every day!
Praise AL!!

hehe, I like that! The geek shall inherit the earth. I have been called a band geek before, too. I guess it's not that bad. I still play the drums. A professional confectioner? I wish I had pro status. I guess my confectionary prowess is what prompted Al to place me at #23 on his top friends list. I've certainly inmpressed him to the point where he thought I bought the latest of my creations, summertime candies. I may have to write about that. Just to refresh your memory, or for those who haven't seen the picture yet, here is the candy that inspired the poem.
I gave Weird Al some candy
Which he thought was just dandy
He asked me where I got it
Because he thought I bought it
I said I made it for him
A fact which nearly floored him
To see that lovely smile
Makes what I do worthwhile
Thanks Al, for everything!

I like that poem! Heehee.
It made me smile.

Also, that candy is amazing!
You've got mad confectionary skillz.

Thanks, WaffleQueen! The sweetest thing about when I gave Al that candy is when he asked if it was ok if he waited until he got home, so he could share it with Nina.
Awww!

Just fooling around with words again...I thought it would be fun to try a poem where each line was made up of three words starting with the same letter...
