Al just gets wordier with each new album.

No doubt what got Hardware Store into the top 10 is that one verse.

Okay, here's my song-by-song review.

COUCH POTATO: Great song, but I now skip it every time I listen to Poodle Hat because I've already heard it so many times when it first leaked onto the internet.

HARDWARE STORE: Amazing! I would love to see Al do this live. I enjoy the vocals only mix, too.

TRASH DAY: A lot better than what I expected. I love the female part during the chorus and when Al says, "It's so bad, the roaches wearin' slippers."

PARTY AT THE LEPER COLONY: Um, people who were at the OC Fair shows, was Al's voice this deep when he performed the song there? Because I certainly don't remember it that way. Anyway, this is an awesome song. The puns are hillarious at times.

ANGRY WHITE BOY POLKA: Wow. I'm not usually a big fan of the polkas, but next to Ode To A Superhero, this is the best song on the album. The way he strings the different parts together is perfect.

WANNA B UR LOVR: Good song, but I dislike the innuendo verse. Honestly I think the song would work fine without it.

A COMPLICATED SONG: Cool! I would have bought the album just for this. The last verse is the best.

WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME?: I don't enjoy the first verse much, but the other two are pure, classic Al.

ODE TO A SUPERHERO: The best song on the album. Al did a great job with this. I love it when he sings about a blockbuster movie to the tune of a classic song.

BOB: At first I loved this song, but I was a little put down when people started posting those palindrome sites. Good job of imitating Dylan, though.

EBAY: A fairly well put together song. Not much to say about it, really.

GENIUS IN FRANCE: I enjoy this song, but not much since I'm not a big Zappa fan. Maybe if I listen to him more I'll understand this song.

All in all, this is a good album. Not his best, but far from his worst as well.

I think PH is one of his best albums because he used some new techniques, if you heard the interview that he did with thr Dr. on sunday you know what i am talkin about. I dont think Al can come out with a bad cd.

Well, for the three shows that I was there, it wasn't that deep.

Was Al referencing that in the Spy Hard opening?

Oh yeah! I forgot Al's head explodes at the end of that sequence! I only saw it once (in the theater), and unfortunately Al's sequence was the best thing about the movie. As much as I'd like to see Al's bit again, I have no desire to see that movie again! Wonder if they'll put it on the next video DVD?

Well, it was on the last "The Videos" DVD, so hopefully it would be included should that ever finally get rereleased.

Hooray for the wordiest polka!

The more I listen to OTASH, the more I like it. Piano Man is less annoying than American Pie became, Spiderman was a better movie than Episode 1 was, and the song is a lot funnier (He's just so damn blunt)

I, amoung many others, hated WBUL. I listened to it once and I thought "Man, this is crap!" However, after listening to it again it sounded better. A few times later, I thought it was a great song! It realy grew on me, the whole album did. When I first heard the album I thought it was good, but not the greatest. I thought CP was bad, but again, it grew on me. E-Bay was the same way. I listen to it 10 times a day.

Anyone else have this experience?

I wouldn't say I thought it was crap. It did raise my eyebrows and make my jaw drop to the floor. Not a pretty sight, I can tell you. But I did like it. After a couple of listens.

It took a couple of times through before I understood the wonderfulness that is Hardware Store.

Dr. Dad... your review??? :nervous:

I was just noticing... Poodle Hat is longer than the average album isn't it?

RWS was 49:16 (at least according to my Windows Media Player) and PH is 54:37. Probably just a co-inky-dink, but what's 54 divided by 2?

Talk about extra added value, and that's without taking all the bonus goodies into account. That Al, whattaguy.
