I just sent anth a very detailed summary of my thoughts so far, and I recommend everyone else do the same when you can. This will make the game MUCH more fun after it's over when some choice excerpts are published. Think of it as the equivalent of the famed reality confessional booth.

Does the parody have to be of the entire song, or can only part of the song be parodied (like Al often does)?

You can trim it down if you want, but I would say it should probably be at least 90 seconds or so...but I'll let Kevbo make the call on this.

Just a curiosity, why does the song have to be a capella?

We figured it'd open it up to a wider song selection (otherwise it'd be easy to lean towards songs from PH and SOL since instrumentals are readily available) and we didn't (and don't) know how the teams would stack up in terms of musical ability. If one team has a person who plays guitar or drums or keyboards or whatever, but the other doesn't, it might be an unfair advantage.
