Im gonna go ahead and say they will not show Wanna B Ur Lovr in the special, I think its more likely they will show Fat and Yoda. Gotta agree with TMBJon.

They might shorten WBUL by cutting a verse or the bridge or the "Jamaican" outro...but it also behooves a live COMEDY Central special to have lots of audience laughter. Of all the songs in the current setlist, WBUL has perhaps the most deliberate setup/punchline structure (besides perhaps "Canadian Idiot" which I also don't think they'll cut; I'm guessing it KILLED in Toronto). I've been to shows where WBUL is the only song the audience actually LAUGHS at. The audience jams, grooves if you will, to the entire concert, and laughs at all the video clips, but WBUL frequently contains the only lyrics that, from my experience, will always elicit laughs.

Besides, that tiger suit needs to be seen on basic cable. To hell with Al, that tiger suit is the real reason to go to these shows. Hell, how better to promote Al's show during the Sheen roast than to show ads with Al in the tiger suit?

Well, he did it for Wayne Brady...so I guess I could see that happening...

FredHuggins wrote:Comedy Central NEVER rolls credits over content from the actual show anymore - even on hit shows like South Park and The Daily Show, they ALWAYS annoyingly shuffle the credits off to the left half of the screen while showing an ad for another show in the top right corner.
I've seen them do it on a lot of shows. Just today they ran the credits over the last scene of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and I definitely recall it during Jon Benjamin Has A Van because I would look for my friends' names in the credits. This is a pretty minor point, but I could definitely see them rolling the quick credits at the bottom in order to squeeze out an extra 15-30 seconds of performance.

I watched an advanced copy of the Comedy Central special tonight. I'll post the set list in the next post so if you don't want to know ahead of time, consider this your spoiler warning and don't read the next post.

What I saw seems to be the final cut. It included bumpers before the commercial breaks with a snippet of one of the songs in the next segment and a "coming up..." graphic. It also included the production company logos at the end. But no credits. So I think it's one of those things where they'll have the credits on a separate graphic.

Here's the setlist:

Intro video
Polka Face
TMZ
(commercial)
Smells Like Nirvana
Party in the CIA
(commercial)
CNR
Let Me Be Your Hog
Canadian Idiot
(commercial)
Skipper Dan
Amish Paradise
(commmercial)
Perform This Way
White & Nerdy
(commercial)
Fat (without the music video intro)

Fat is a nice way to end it, I guess, with the band introductions and the band playing for a bit after Al leaves the stage. Gives them a little of the spotlight.

The total running time was 42:46 but that included a :30 promo for the Sheen roast and an FBI warning-type thing with the whole "don't illegally distribute this" thing. So the running time of the actual special was right around 42 minutes, which seems right for an hour-long show minus commercials.

Not to say I told you so but, well ok, that's exactly what I'm going to do...

Knew they would'nt include Lovr, just seems like something you'd save for the DVD.

This is a really good setlist, the more I think about how it will play with commercial breaks. I think it will play well to the Comedy Central audience.

Thanks for posting, Scott. I really didn't expect them to cut TSB/Yoda, but I can see how that wouldn't fit. I was wondering how they were going to edit the special for TV when I saw that press release from Comedy Central that said the DVD would have 30 minutes of extra concert material PLUS three extra songs. I notice that those two songs and the medley seem to be the only ones they cut. I can definitely see how that totals up to at least 30 minutes. I'm guessing the medley and the encore will be shown as they were in the setlist on the DVD, but Franks/YMM/YDLMA could only be seen under "special features" separate from the main concert. Also, it's kind of strange how they would rearrange the set list like that. Still, can't wait!
