Hey, remember that parody of eBay we were writing? Well, I made it to the end, but it ain't finished it yet. Go ahead, pull it apart and change words, or entirely re-write something. Remember, I didn't completely write this, but I did change a fair bit.

Yeah…

Topic... 'bout Weird Al
Reply... it ain’t swell
Scotti... has something to say
Saw it on WOWAY

My comp... loading this site
Sometimes takes all night
But that's… quite OK
Cause I'll post on WOWAY!

Tell me why... we never stay on topic
Tell me why... people have to write biopics
Tell me why we need another stupid poll
We love them on WOWAY

I won't... feed a troll.
I'll post... a new poll.
Sexy Al Pics! We girls say...
We love Al on WOWAY.

Tell me why... My keyboard's covered in drool.
Tell me why... I skipped three classes at school
Just to stay online chatting the whole day.
Must post at WOWAY!

I am the kind who is liable to type you a PM at half past two, woah
No Weird Points, but Al heads
My keyboard's my best friend
My avatar's really cute

I’ll win… Survivor
Send me… that tape, or
I’ll die… (I’ll Die, I’ll Die, I’ll Die)
Without my Al-Fix

You hit it right on the nail
With the post about the fan mail
Hey, that guy got something from eBay
Read it on WOWAY

I’ll post my new fan pic right now
With a sign hung on some kind of biped cow
The topic’s got an emoticon… AH!
P H 34 R

Yeah I might (give nothing but a DVD)
The fright (when WOWAY was down for the day)
It turned most of our members insane
Now back on WOWAY

What I read on WOWAY.

I dunno. We'll need some more law-savvy members to help us out there.

Well as Al said, parodies are kind of a gray area so if we're selling the albums by word of mouth it really shouldn't be a problem...in other words, call OE :P

Great parody, Mewrio!

A parody, legally, is a gray area (as iisryan said). I think you are allowed to do a parody without the artist's permission. However, to be on the safe side, it would be best to get a lawyer's opinion and consult the artist's agency before releasing the parody to the public.

This is from way back...

Anthony, do you think you can follow up on this?

I could, but I'm not a professional web designer by any means. If anyone else would like to do it, by all means, go ahead (when we're ready, that is). I think I'd do better just contributing liner notes.

Ever since 1994, it's legal to do a parody without the original author's permission as long as the song is humorous. But that's as far as I know on the matter.
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!

Actually, if we're going to collaborate via the net, might I suggest scotti's high-bandwidth server? I could set up FTP access and a small website, maybe even a discussion forum so we can work out who needs to do what.
