Disappointed to see so little Devo Spice and Tony Goldmark on there I thought they were the best. Oh well...

He had a brief "set" on stage, too. I don't remember a whole lot of the performance though. I think he sang a bit, and told some jokes.

Count Smokula was mostly brought on stage (and to Al Fest in general) to promote The Real UHF. He did play "Ring Of Fire" and possibly a few other songs, but it happened just as the first break started, so no one was there. Bill and I thought it was funny that he was essentially playing to no one, and not even from the stage but the middle of the room, so Bill got some extreme close-ups and it made for a funny video. He was essentially playing right for the DVD.
I tried to be fair and include one song from each artist so no one would feel like their favorite act got less time than any other act. Throwing Toasters is probably the "biggest" act there, and he even opened for Al once, so I included two of his songs. From the feedback I've heard, Throwing Toasters seemed to be the overall fan favorite so I thought that would be alright to include two of his songs.
Overall, keep in mind that I only shot one song from each artist, so what you see is what exists on tape. I had to do this to conserve battery and tape space, so I could have recorded more Devo Spice songs but it would have been at the expense of the UHF Panel, or something else like that. When you're shooting a 12-hour event, you have to make decisions and this was one of them. Also, keep in mind the discs are both packed to their maximum capacity with a wide selection of highlights from throughout the day. Yes, there will always be room to wish one song was filmed over another, but I don't think you'll be disappointed when you see what's been included overall.

Of course I understand the constraints Jon.. Its just wishful thinking to want everything on there of course, and its a good job its you doing it and not me as I'd have included all of Devo Spice at the expense of several other artists, but thats me

Maybe some 'bootlegs" will leak. I know there were people recording periodically throughout the show (even though they weren't really supposed to.)

Let's hope not. After all Jon did for this official DVD, I don't know how anyone with a conscience could sell or even leak for free a nonofficial version.jbracciante @ October 02, 2009 02:05 pm wrote: Maybe some 'bootlegs" will leak. For the record, the official videographers were me and Bill (Not A Weird Al Fan). We had help from Greg (CatraDhtm). Amerah (AAAmerah) and Stephen (lamename3000) were also granted permission to shoot video.
If you're watching video from anyone else, you are officially a hooligan. But hey, more power to you.
