yeah, I was thinking The Lonely Island would be serious competition for Al. Which is bad because I don't think they're funny.

Definitely better than 1 in 10 for Comedy Album. I will gladly take the over on that bet if you want to wager.

I'm not a betting man so I can't say I even know what those odds would translate too in the betting world. I would say he does have a better chance for album than video so I guess 1 out of 10 for both doesn't really work. I also lean pessimistic so victories are pleasant surprises and defeats are never unexpected disappointments. If Al wins I'll buy you a celebratory beverage of choice (through the wonders of paypal). You have my PM.

Edit: It's odd that out of all the remarkable Al videos only Jurassic Park and Perform This Way were nominated. I understand one is claymation and one is creepy CGI but come on, White & Nerdy should have earned a nomination.

Actually, the W&N video missed the cut off date for the 2007 Grammys

According to Wiki (so apply grain of salt), the cutoff was September 14th. SOL actually came out after the cutoff, but I'm guessing there were promo copies sent "for your consideration"

W&N would've been eligible the next year, but the odds against a video from that early in an eligibility period still being in contention after a year of more videos are pretty slim. Happens at the MTV awards all the time. Always seems it's mostly more recent videos and maybe only a couple months-old videos.

Awww, that's really unfortunate. W&N totally deserved a Grammy.

For all the talk on WOWAY about the Lonely Island and how they're success is supposedly bad for Al's career, let's not overlook that BOTH albums are lucky to get nominations at all.

Besides the fact that once upon a time, Al and TLI wouldn't have even been eligible for Grammys, there's the simple fact that 2011 was a huge year for stand-up comedy albums. For further proof, the A. V. Club has picked the ten best comedy albums of the year (Don't panic at Al's exclusion...it's all stand-up, and yes, Al's exclusion was brought up already in the comments).

I have to admit, I was honestly surprised when Al (And TLI, for that matter) got nominations. "Honor to be nominated" really applies this year.

I think Al has a pretty decent shot at the Video category.

And let's all face it, TLI's album has had much more success. They'll probably nab the Album award. I don't really like them, but hey, I think they deserve something!

I think Al has a much better chance at the Comedy Album category than the Music Video category.

I agree. I really don't think people who are not big Al fans really like Perform This Way. Just not that funny of a parody and has no jokes worth telling anybody about. The song has really grown on me, I enjoy it but still hope it doesn't stay in the live set after the whole touring for Alpocalypse is all done.
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

I do kind of agree with the humor of Perform This Way, but I have gotten stopped walking on the street on multiple occasions whilst wearing an Alpocalypse shirt by people who tell me about how hilarious his new Lady Gaga parody is.
