This is very interesting indeed. Of course I'm crossing my fingers for a new live DVD, but it probably won't happen. I could see this being on HDNet because they show a lot of concerts. Al did say this was a "big" television taping though, so I wonder if it might be aired on a channel that's a little bit more mainstream, at least in Canada. Either way, I hope it's somehow made available to people who don't get the channel it's ultimately aired on.

And where is Yankomaniac? He's the only Canadian on the entire site, and I'd really like his input on this.

There are a few Canadians here, actually... hopefully some of them will be able to represent WOWAY at this show.

This sounds exciting. Too bad I live on the other side of Canada.

Yeah. They got their Al concerts and their national health care and their cheap meds and their low crime rates and their clean air.
But then again, they got Celine Dion
But then again, they got Celine Dion

You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

Canada's probably the second most American country on Earth. It's not American enough for me to visit, though, even for an Al concert.

Does anyone else think this might be something for Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon? We do know that CN still has some live action programming (just not movies any more) and Al's Blog didn't really make it all that clear whether he is still under contract with CN to produce any "content" for them. We just know that his movie didn't get produced, but they could've had al move on to his next idea for them.

It sounds to me like Al's contractual relationship with Cartoon Network, at least for the moment, is kaput. As he said in an AV Club article:
That sure sounds like any plans to do anything with Cartoon Network are over for the foreseeable future. It seems to be out of the picture. That was pretty disappointing. It was going to be the first feature film that I’d directed as well as written, but apparently the network had a regime change or corporate policy change, and all feature films in development went into turnaround, which basically means, “Thank you very much, but try somewhere else.”

I'll be going to both of these shows, as long as we can get our passports in time. Going to apply as soon as we get home on Tuesday from this chase. That will allow 5 weeks before July 12 and the processing times say 4-6 weeks. Thinking of expediting the process, though, just to be sure. This should be a very fun day and can't wait to see my buddy Yankomaniac again.
