It would, in fact, be boring, actually.

A song about children/family love is about due though. Especially with the experience he's had over the last seven years. There's all sorts of comedy in that. (I was able to record a Train parody of "Hey Soul Sister" about parenting and still didn't have enough room in the song to cover what I came up with on the topic.) I'd like to hear him tackle the subject. The things kids do are very funny.

Actually, a song about parenting would be pretty funny if done right. Embarrassing things that a parent does for their child, but with good intentions. Something along the lines of a parent taking their child to prom because they had no one to take them, picked out their clothes everyday until they were 35 (hmm, Genius in France callback)...and if THAT ISN'T LOVE, I don't know what is.

Just throwing this out there, but I immediately thought of
this song when I read the title. Even though this song is probably/definitely an original and there's no way he would cover this over Hey Soul Sister.

Although it could be a possibility that the song is about parent/child love... I lean toward NOT. His twisted love song schemes just would not allow mild -stupid-5 year old- humor over the regular subversive humor that generically comes out of those songs.

I agree. The humor will be a lot less tame than you're suggesting.

Careful about assuming that. Not saying I think this is a parody, but Al's broken the "parodies are odd, originals are even" formula before. He even did it on the last album.
