I'd love for him to parody Prince and NOT ask for permission, and then rub Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, Inc. in his face.

This is an excellent idea! And yes, the Barenaked Ladies would do a great version of "Melanie". Also Cherry Poppin' Daddies doing "Grapefruit Diet" would be good- along with (not a parody) AC/DC doing "Young, Dumb and Ugly" would be amazing!jamiederelict wrote:I've always wanted to hear a celebrity filled Weird Al tribute album. Imagine it: "In On The Joke: A Celebrity Filled Tribute To "Weird Al" Yankovic". I would picture bands who were parodied by Al performing his songs. I would foresee The Offspring doing Pretty Fly For A Rabbi, Barenaked Ladies performing Jerry Springer (though I think they'd perform a darling version of Melanie), more I cannot think of now...

Despite Al saying nothing but good things about TMBG as long as he's been around, and being such a big fan of theirs, TMBG themselves seem to dislike Al a lot, even refusing to acknowledge that "Everything You Know is Wrong" is supposed to sound like them.PlayAWarGame wrote: TMBG doing Everything You Know Is Wrong?
