that's strange...I assumed that if a 2011 tour DOES happen. then it would be the second back to back leg in support of Leaks/Essentials and (hopefully) the first leg in support of a new full length album (regardless of whether or not it has achieved SOL type success by then)
I thought he would take 2012 off and be back on the road by 2014 at the latest...

Poodle Hat had four legs. Granted, they were in two years, but still.
And I don't know why he can't tour every summer. He's selling tickets and Nina is big enough to travel during the summers, so why not?

The tour next year is definite. And even if Nina is old enough to tour, it's still alot of sitting on the bus, not the most interesting thing for a seven year old. I don't mind the two years on two years off deal we have been getting. Al has a family and wants to have a normal life. With Nina in school they can't do winter vacations aside from Christmas and Easter.

I think it's too early to ask this question. You need to see how well the new album sells, and more importantly, how well the 2011 tour does. If they're still selling out venues left and right after crisscrossing the country several times, then yeah, they'll go out again in 2012. If it's a repeat of this tour in terms of attendance and venues, then not.

This may be stupid question, but hasn't the tour been going well? And if not, isn't the culprit likely the economy and not Al?

The entire tour industry is in its worst shape since 1995 according to an article I read yesterday and many artists have had to cancel multiple dates. We should be glad that hasn't happened to Al at least.

Al being a theatre act helps him very much. If he was trying to fill arenas it would be a lot harder to do

Mike's right. Also, Al doesn't charge a gazillion dollars for tickets, making him more attractive than some others.

I think a 2011 tour is more likely. Will there be any concert dates in 2012? Depends how long the tour is. How long will the tour be? Depends how successful the album is. How successful will the album be? Probably pretty successful.
