Until they removed it, they had played OMM every tour since 1985. I've gotta guess they were pretty tired of playing it night after night after night. OMM and "Yoda" are the only songs they've played every night in entirety during those tours. "Yoda" at least has some variation from tour to tour with the chant.
Also, they have a replacement audience song with WBUL. Al's said he enjoys performing OMM because it gives him a chance to interact one-on-one with the audience. WBUL evolved and eventually took that role over, so no need for OMM anymore. They don't lose anything by not performing it, and not having OMM frees up a spot in the setlist for a new, or classic, song.

Ok, that's what I thought but it sort of sounded like someone was implying there was more to the story (a band member made a comment after a soundcheck?). Anyway, makes sense.

Albuquerque needs to stay... then again, I have a personal connection to that song.
Speaking of Albuquerque, when Al performed "Albuquerque" in that city for the first time back in 1999, I finally got to witness one of my long time top favorites done live... "Mr Frump in the Iron Lung." I'd love for that to come in, but I'd be in the minority, I'm sure.
Franks 2000" TV would make a GREAT addition.
Hardware Store would be incredible, but VERY difficult in the middle.
Interesting to note that Al has performed nearly 95% of all his parodies in concert! That explains why the requests here are pretty much nothing but originals.
Now to take this thread in a new direction... Al typically does his own songs. What if he played a cover version of something else? He's done "Radio Radio" by the Elvis Costello, and "Close To You", but what about some other comedy classic like "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah" or "Fish Heads". The only one I could imagine him doing would be "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha Ha!"

Oh hey Torso Boy!!
I definitely noticed that we were all requesting originals and wondered what that meant about us. Your explanation seems to make the most sense. I've already seen or heard Al play nearly all of his parodies live already.
