Sorry to here that, Orthography Enthusiast.

I'll see if I can write my review of the show tomorrow.

Bottom line, I finally found the Pavilion in time to hear Al singing "Smells Like Nirvana." So that remainder of concert is the amount necessary to turn around the bad mood, just so you know.

:o

So sorry you missed so much of the show! It did start off a bit late so I guess that's good in your case since you didn't miss quite as much as you could have...

My brood and I were there; I noticed that a couple things may have been rearranged since the last tour - I think, it has been a year after all. There were exactly 11 storm troopers on stage posing for the Saga Begins, along with Darth Vader and Boba Fett. Al and the band are as good as always, and all 4 of us loved every minute of it, even from halfway back where we were seated. The only real issue for us was the fact that no matter where we are seated, we always seem to be within 2 rows of obnoxious people. This time they were doing their best to fill any momentary silence with "wooo!" and "I love you!" and screaming out song titles as if Al & co. would suddenly decide to change the setlist just for them. *sigh*

I said hi very briefly to Bermuda as we were walking in, but he was chatting with some folks so I didn't want to be a big interruption and we continued on. It looked like something was amiss with his eye; I hope he's ok! In any case, he played a great show as usual.

After the show, we waited in line for awhile out by the buses, but after a time we saw Steve Jay hanging out with a few folks and decided that although we love Al, we did see him under the exact same circumstances last year and we hadn't met Steve in a very long time. So we went over to where he was. I believe he was chatting with Carlotta Barnes and some friends and/or family of hers at first. Then he was given some sign language instruction by a group of fans who knew ASL, and was very nice, taking time with everyone and very interested in the whole thing - he said ASL was very beautiful, like seeing music made in the air IIRC. When he got to us I introduced the two kids we had since we last met him. He showed us a mockup of his new album which he said may be out in the wild in about a month. Sweet! It was very nice talking to Steve and he was incredibly patient listening intently to my son, who at 6 years old just kind of drifts from one unrelated anecdote to another! We got a pic with him also. :D

We had to take the kids to the restroom before we left, and being that it was after 11:30 already we decided not to get back into the line that was still waiting for Al. We finally made it home about 12:30 - we live at the opposite corner of the valley from Henderson.

Whew! Long night, but fun!

Yeah, I heard the crazy screaming people too. "Dare To Be Stupid" was one of them.

Sorry if I was a crazy screaming person.
"I'm really sorry. I do that sometimes."
"Now what did I say? You start acting silly, and you don't get your cookie after the show!"

Were all the video clips the same as last year? They sure seemed like it.

Well, I wouldn't think they would change much, since it is part of the same album-tour.
Silence will fall.

Well, according to some reviews (like Elvis's) the video clips do change with the legs of the tours.
I mean, it isn't like they could include many new clips (Transformers & Simpsons), but nothing had seemed to change.

Yeah, it was largely the same (and of course even Al says so somewhere on his site), but I was surprised to see all the stormtroopers! I'm not taking down each song during the show so I don't have a setlist, and in these days of two kids I really only get to see a show when he comes to the Vegas valley. Since I don't often get to see more than 1 show per tour, I can't pick out differences very well. :S

I don't recall seeing the animated clip with him flying before, with Don Knotts. I don't even know what that's from.

Oh! I forgot to mention - I think the Yoda chant may have changed a bit, too. My cell phone can capture video, and that was one of the things I caught. At our distance and at concert volume it may be pretty worthless though - it is still just a cell phone. (we all have them, c'mon, let's get real!) I'll have to review it in the computer tomorrow.

That's one of my favorite clips that he plays. It's from Johnny Bravo, from about, oh, 2003 or 2004 I guess. He played it last time too, but it's cool that it's new for you. And great that you got to see stormtroopers.

Glad everyone had fun! OE, that's some dedication to pull off a last minute road trip like that! At least you saw part of the concert.

I wondered about Bermuda's left eye when we saw him briefly after a concert last August. I also thought it was odd that he was wearing sunglasses during his interview on the Biography special. I figured maybe he had surgery and he didn't want it to show on camera, or perhaps the bright lights used during the interview were bothering his eyes.

Thanks for the info about the concert in Henderson, everyone!

Oh, duh. I completely forgot it was Johnny Bravo looking up at them as they were flying away. I was really tired. I really don't remember that clip from last year, though. I just went to the one concert here, also in June, also at this same venue.
