lc27.. I'm guessing your initials are LC, which probably means you're Linda, right? I'll keep an eye out for you! Wish I was going to the Idaho show with you. Tell me how it is!

Yep, that would be me! I didn't know if you would remember me from previous concerts and on AMWA, but I guess you do!

Yeah, hope to see you there! Too bad you can't make it to the Idaho Falls show. The abbreviated Fair shows aren't enough for me; I need to go to an auditorium show where they'll play the full set. I figure Idaho Falls is less than 4 hours away, so why not?

Well, just got back from the SLC show. I guess I beat Jake home, so I get to post first! If anyone who didn't get a chance to go to this particular show cares for a quick review, here it is:

They played the full set! Wow, during the PH tour, Al & the band also played at the State Fair, but it was an abbreviated show, and I was expecting the same this time around. Maybe it was because they had a shorter drive ahead of them tonight (Idaho Falls vs. Spokane last time)? Whatever the reason, it was a steal for just $24!

Anyway, the set list for this particular show didn't excite me as much as those in previous tours, but that's all a matter of preference, of course, and I'm entitled to my opinions. But, it doesn't really matter what Al sings; it's always an awesome show in the end!

So the real highlight this time around was we got to see the guys do "Radio Radio." That was because he messed up the lyrics to "Canadian Idiot." After he screwed up, he said something to the effect of "you don't really need to hear that song," then went to "Radio Radio," after which he said something like "you don't really need to hear that song either," then went back to "Canadian Idiot."

Everything else seems to have gone smoothly. I was impressed by the length of time he spent on "Stuck in the Drive Thru" in the medley, and Albuquerque was great, although it was slower than the album version, which messed up my tempo for me when I tried to sing along. Love the new lyrics he added to the song!

No meet and greet at the end. Mean usher lady kept trying to shoo everyone away, although a few of us still managed to hang around. The band bus left about an hour after the show was done, so they made fairly a quick escape.

I'll be in Idaho Falls for tomorrow's show, so maybe there'll be something special for the 1000th!

Hmm Radio Radio during Canadian Idiot...then after Radio Radio he redid Canadian Idiot? SWEET! Must've been that someone didn't get their cue to start because I doubt Al would stop the song just because he flubbed a line or something...because there's a good 7-10 seconds between each line to get himself situated and on track. Besides Al has messed up lyrics before and he didn't stop the whole song because of that so I'm guessing there was something more going on than that.

My educated guess is the server froze up :P

If you happened to record anything be sure to put it up on youtube!

No, he definitely botched the lyrics, because I was singing along and he sang the wrong line. It was near the beginning of the song, on either the "Don't wanna be some beer swilling hockey nut" or the "And do I look like some frost-bitten hose-head" or the "I never learned my alphabet from A to Zed" line. He accidentally replaced it with a line from later on in the song. He realized it right away and it messed up his composure, although the band kept playing on for a little while longer. But Al wasn't able to recover,
and that's why they had to stop. So he called for Radio Radio, I guess to give the crew time to reset the video and all that stuff before the next run through of "Canadian Idiot."

I agree with everything Linda says. I felt the same way about the setlist. It just didn't excite me as much as shows in the past. That's not to say I didn't have a great time, however. woway user Muldernscully spotted me out of the crowd and came over to say hi, and we chatted for a few minutes. It was good to see him. Woway user Darbus was also there, however I didn't get to meet him.
The last time I went to a state fair, was the last time Al played the state fair 3 years ago. I wouldn't be sad if I didn't go to another state for another 3 years. It brings out all kinds of people. The family sitting the left of me was fun to watch. Dad was a very conservative looking, balding 40ish year old guy with a wife and three daughters, all under the age of 10. Every time something even remotely sexual came up in a song or video clip, his mouth would slightly open and he'd slowly shake his head in disgust. Surly, this couldn't be the same Weird Al who wrote Eat It! The best part was during the Weasel Stomping Day video. He wasn't impressed at all. The people to the right of me were drinking beer through the whole show, at one point spilling some beer on the hair of the woman in front of him. His friend then offered the woman a few dollars to compensate for her alcohol scented hair.
Linda and I waited for.. I dunno, I guess and hour or so after the show, hoping that Al would come out and say hi to the ten or so of us still there. I saw Al come from the area where he met with people who had an after show pass. He quickly got on the bus, and moments later the bus backed out and left the park.
My heart sank. A single tear rolled down my cheek. "Maybe next time." I said to my wife with shaky voice and quivering lip. Well, okay.. It wasn't quite that dramatic. But I was kind of hoping to get a picture with the man I've been a fan of for the last almost 20 years.
The show was great though, as always. My family and I had a great time.

I don't post here often, but I was at the show. We just moved to Utah a month ago, and I was super excited that Al was playing. I usually don't go to concerts unless they are really cheap, I usually can't justify paying that much money for an hour and a half, but this time I had to make an exception. This was my third Al concert. The first one was a free show at the fair in Spokan Wa., the second was another fair show, but it was only like 17 bucks for the ticket in Redmond Oregon.

Anyway, I took my 7 year old to the concert and he had a pretty good time. He loved holding up the cell phone during the parts where everyone held them up. I'd say it's much safer than lighers, that and in Utah, you are pretty much garunteed that at least half the people there won't have a lighter because they don't smoke
;-)

Thanks for the clarification on the Canadian Idiot song, I noticed that he messed up on the lyrics, but didn't think about needing to fix the video to the song. I wonder what is up with the radio radio song. I know i've heard it before, but i'm not sure where. I guess that is a question for the Google Oracle.

My son and I were sitting in section B Row 18 seat 1. We sat together because when I bought the tickets, I coulsn't find two seats next to each other, so the other seat I had was in section B Row 20, seat 7, but I noticed a little girl sitting in that seat, so It's all good.

I missed some of the lyrics to Albuqurque because my son had to go pee, so I missed most of the things Al asked for at teh doughnut shop. lol.

Anyway, the best part for me was, after the concert when we were walking to the car, my son said that it was the best day he ever had. That's the kind of thing that I live for. I love Al.

BTW, I love in West Point, and make the long drive to Salt Lake to go to school if anyone wants to hang out or something.

Peace.

Hi, iancook. Radio, Radio is a song by Elvis Costello. When Al says "There's nor reason to do this song now" before he plays it, he''s parodying what Elvis Costello did when he played the song on SNL. I think it's cool that he does that song. So glad you and your son enjoyed the show! Btw, Al's shows are more like 2 1/2 hours, so you got an extra hour out of the deal.

;)

Ah, gotcha, Elvis Costello. Makes sense now. I didn't see that SNL. I wonder if it's on youtube somewhere.

The real problem I have with the price of the tickets is in the fee from smithstix or from ticket master. The $24 tickets end up being over $30 bucks a peice after all that. In my house $60 is a lot of money...

Anyway, thanks.
