I'm guessing he's starting the new album promotion trek (He did this with PH, IIRC)

Wonder if he's on his way to New York for some tv stuff |)

When you hear that much concentrated ignorance from professional media guys and admitted Al fans, you begin to think that they're playing dumb and asking questions they DO know the answers to, just to give Al a chance to get the information out to the more clueless segments of the listening public. There probably ARE people in Radioland who don't know Al does live concerts, and I don't think he minded at all letting them know. Some of them might buy tickets.

I do not think anyone got a recording :( I am minutes from WZPL and I couldn't even get to the station or even listen to it as it was smack in the middle of my daily am meeting. If it was earlier I would have gotten it. Al is in town and I did not get to hear anything or even try to go by the station. (which I know people there too). It was an honor to have Al visit Indy today regardless. I might post later what I did hear about the ZPL morning crew and what was said before he got there.

well, I got B&T taped, not this though

Bob and Tom was using my mp3 player's fm reciever. I did this using the web stream. For some reasons, the stream cut out 10 min after it automatically started.

I actually woke up this morning thinking I missed him because the recording starting at the start of the show failed. I then started it again before heading off to school, and that one stopped after 10 minutes.

I DID record them talking about him before comming on the show (right before the "meal or no meal"), not that that does anybody any good.

I almost got fired for calling WZPL to talk to Al today. I was on hold to talk to him and my supervisor made me hang up. I was so upset they sent me home without pay.

The DJ (unfortunatly. I was lost as far as their names went, I do apologize) genuinely did not know Al did live shows. He mentioned it almost haphazardly, like a "Oh, yeah, good one, WEIRD AL doing a LIVE SHOW!, now let's be serious!" He seemed excited that Al performed live though and mentioned at least 3 or 4 times throughout the interview that he would be going to his first Al show come tour. (Of course, as you mentioned OE, better to clue in the truly clueless listener... :D ) Al mentioned that the Fat costume was used during the live show too, when Fat was brought up later, and all of the DJs were surprised and excited about that. They did seem to be true Al fans, just more of the "well once in a while, we pop in OTDE or EW" sorta fashion. And of course, it was nice to reminisce for all/Al.

SG, I was very surprised to hear full length, or almost full length "world premieres" (Al said this was the first radio show he'd done for SOL) of his new material. In a way, I was disappointed, as I was going to wait to hear all the songs until I bought the album, with the exception of DDTS and W&N. On the other hand, I loved what I heard.

Too bad no one from WOWAY got to talk to the DJs. Us seasoned Al fans probably would've come up with something better than "Oh, my friend does the most HILARIOUS dances to Top 40 songs!"

Sorry again, that I couldn't get a recording. In a way though, I'm glad I didn't, because having the recording would mean a bunch of as-of-yet unreleased SOL songs would be floating around, and especially for those avoiding Spoilers like the Plague...I'd just feel kinda guilty.

ANOTHER SIDENOTE...just remembered from the interview (little bits and pieces keep coming back)..the DJs mentioned they had been sampling DDTS on the station in the past week, and the first day they played it, supposedly a school-age child HAD been hit by a car..so they were "cringing" when that line came on...Al just took it in stride, saying something about how you can never tell what the "times"(that's not the word he used) will be like when the album actually comes out...and of course, he put this ARTICULATELY...

:inlove:

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear that, TOG! Hope things simmer down for you at work.

Less typing, more posting!

I also emailed the morning show asking them to post it on their downloads page so we could all hear it.
