Two months after it's release date was announced, not two months after Al started recording it. July is the new album's starting recording date. It will most certainly take him longer than that to record it and get it released.

When did recording sessions for Poodle Hat start? I don't think it is in the timeline,unless I missed it.
I could have sworn I saw a message at weirdal.com saying Al was in the studio recording origionals before the dates mentioned in the timeline.

IIRC, the originals for PH were recorded in March 2002, and the parodies were recorded in March 2003.

There's no reason to expect that the next album will be anytime before March 2006, at the VERY EARLIEST. Al always writes and records his originals well in advance so that he can focus on the parodies later, when the original songs are more popular. I would be willing to wager that at least half of the songs that will be parodied and used in the polka medley have not even been released yet.

Not trying to burst any bubbles, but that's just how Al does things. Check out the recording dates for "Off the Deep End." He had the originals done LONG before he had any clue of what songs he would parody. Let's just keep our hopes up that the album will actually be in 2006 and not EVEN LATER!

Hey!! I just found something interesting..... I was reading Jon's biography on his site. And there it says the following:

In June, 2005, they began work on their 12th album. Jon also assembled an unmatched collection of Weird Al's appearances on retail and promo audio and video products from around the World.

So really they're already in progress!! Maybe it means they got the notes to learn for a July recording session.....

That could very well be. I imagine they have started practicing the songs so they can get them recorded.
