Well, it wasn't a standing ovation, but it was a great ovation.algonacchick @ Sep 8 2005, 03:16 PM wrote: Well, it's true. You do remember me, don't you? We met at Alcon III. Also, I have that lyrics sheet from "Hip Chick", fercryinoutloud! *which I think is cool, btw* Anyway, I'm glad you posted more about this. Can't wait to see the pics up at that site! And possibly from others who were there!![]()

Sorry for my short reply last night. I just wanted to confirm that it was Al.
No one knew it was him that was going to be there and when he walked out on stage the place went NUTS! He got a huge ovation. It was awesome.
After the panel guessed him, J. Keith talked to him for a bit about...
Weird Al Star - Al said he was flattered that people would try this
- R&R Hall Of Fame - Said he was not holding his breath, but again, he's flattered and thinks being in the Hall would be, "Odd"
- New Album - he was VERY tight lipped about this. Said nothing other than he's recorded six songs for it and HOPES to have it out the first part of next year, but things could change so he didn't want to say that was definite. Said the album would be, "Very introspective and peel back the layers to show the real Al."
- Tour - Said he HOPES to be touring by summer (As with the release date he kept saying that's the Plan, but things change.)
- People refusing Parodies - Said he doesn't have to get permission and he could just do parodies, if he "was that kind of guy" but he prefers to have the artist's blessing. Says he'll come up with an idea and then pitch it to the artist. Said he will not write out the whole song because the artists may say no and then he "wasted minutes of my life". Said Prince has consistently turned him down. J. Keith asked what song he would have done of Prince's and Al said he wouldn't say because he may use the idea in the future.
Funny Note: The person with the Mystery occupation before Al came out was Doug Legacy, a professional whisperer and they asked him to whistle and he accompanied himself on accordion. This later became a clue as to how the panel guessed it was Al.
Pictures will be up at: www.jkeith.net in the next few days
I did get to visit briefly with him afterwards and he was super nice, duh.
Again, it was great to see him and that ovation he got was awesome.
I know a few other Al fans from here were there and one even snapped a few photos, so those may surface!
I was just happy my educated guess was right.
