I really don't like "Buckingham Blues." Never really did.
Thats about it for any dislikes. I personally adore Syndicated Inc, and Eat it--- just not Buckingham Blues.

Can we take the least favorite songs to this topic, please? Thanks!
Okay I thought of something that annoys me sometimes, is when Al takes a really good question and makes it into a joke.

I read the question, and I'm "alright!" lets see what Al says..... then he says something that doesn't really answer the question..... I still love you Al!

Well, when he does that, it's usually because of how the question is worded. Besides, if he didn't take at least one question for each Ask Al and do that, he just wouldn't be true to himself. I love him because he does do that. I think if someone asked a very similar, but properly worded version of one of those questions, he just might answer it without being a smarty-pants.

But when we get only 5 answers at a time, I want all 5 to be truthful and not smarty-pants answers.

I agree. He should find a way to insert a joke and still answer the question.

Well, I guess you'll have to settle for four, because I don't think Al's ever gonna drop that smarty pants fifth answer. When there were 27 questions, he did that even more often. People are basically asking for it when they word the questions the way they do. I'd be disappointed if he stopped doing that.

Personally, I wish Al would answer Ask Al questions more often, but I don't know if he can (he used to answer them every month five-plus years ago, but back then he was a bachelor with no kids).

Well look at it as 1984 not 2005.
You really miss the genius of Eat It by looking backwards at it. I know a lot of the fans here weren't even born when the song came out. But if you'd been around then, listening to pop music, you would probably view the song differently.
Y'all think you know what overexposure of a celebrity is, but back in the day no one was bigger than Michael Jackson. He isn't called the King of Pop for nothing. He's a sad, pathetic, creepy man now. But he wasn't that way then. Or at least he hid it better. I think probably only Elvis has been bigger in my lifetime. Michael was everywhere, his music videos had unheard of budgets for the time. By comparison, Eminem really is small potatoes.
Then along comes this skinny, curly haired very WHITE kid. That he had the cajones to even approach MJ for permission to do the parody was amazing. And then he did an amazing job with the sound and the lyrics.
But the true genius of the song was and is the video. It is so close to the original. And remember Al wasn't a household name at the time. This video came out of nowhere for most people. And also remember, rock parody wasn't being done by anyone at the time.
Al really did fool a lot of people. I remember the first time I saw it. I was watching MTV (you know, back when they actually played music videos on MTV) and only half paying attention. Then, the words weren't right.
Hey... what the... who is that?? THAT'S what that Weird Al guy looks like?? Man, he is hilarious!! It's not for nothing that Al was the "Eat It" guy.
Stuff I don't like about Al? He takes so long between albums...

Very well said, Bobbi. I actually like Eat It, too. But I go back as an Al fan to '79, when I only heard him on the radio. It was really something once he hit MTV. Then, I got to see him, too, and thought he was great! And of course, he still is great! I see you share my sentiments as far as what you don't like.
We miss ya, Al!

Bobbi, you captured the "Eat It" experience perfectly ... that was the first experience I had with Al also, and you almost described it exactly as I lived it.
I do have a couple beefs with Al, though! And I am thankful for this topic because I can finally express them.
1) Why does he write songs that are so catchy and fun to sing along with that it makes it difficult to pay attention while driving? That's a good way to get into an accident, or perhaps even a speeding ticket! Plus people give me funny looks when they pull up next to me when I'm singing "The Saga Begins" at the top of my lungs (that is currently my favorite to sing along with, as well as "Trigger Happy").
2) The whole being able to write funnier parodies and stuff than I can. What is up with that? What, Al, you think you have the corner on the market? Oh, yeah, guess you do. Foiled again!
Besides that, I admire the man as an artist and person greatly.
