I think I have the same reasons for liking Al as everyone else. His music is upbeat, catchy, and funny. I don't know what else you could ask for. The best part about Al is that he is very fun to watch in concert. And he cheers you up when you're down.

If I didn't have Al I would be into serious music. And I probably wouldn't think some things are funny like I do now.

Well that's why I like him. I've always liked Al his music just seems natural for me to listen too.

The reason I like Al so much is because comedy has always been the thing I liked the most when it comes to music, movies, etc. And Al does todays kind of music, but with a comedic twist, so even though I'm not a fan of todays popular music, I'm still in tune with what's being listend to nowdays from listening to Al's music. And Al doesnt focus on one genre. He does pop, rock, country, and others, but he puts that comedic twist into them.

He's also a very nice, kind person, who you can actually talk to, unlike some celebs who just ignore you, and think they're the greatest in the world. He gives his fans the best he can give, with both his albums, and his live performances, and spends a lot of time with his family, dispite his hectic work schedule. And he's a very good role model. A very good example for everyone to follow.

Al is definatly one of the most underrated artists of today. He's truely a genius.

I'm 34... been listening to Weird Al since the early days of In 3-D. I have to believe that Al is doing the same things today that he did back then... make everyone laugh and feel good/warm/fuzzy. Somebody's Couch Potato today was my Eat It (more so the entire second side from Mr Popeil all the way to throuhghNature Trail To Hell but that's another discussion altogether.)

'Al' revered among teens for keeping it clean

Parodist's music gives teenagers a feeling of rebellion without having to resort to more attention-getting behavior.

By Serri Graslie, Journal Staff Writer

What is it about Weird Al Yankovic that makes local teens want to listen to him instead of the tunes on the Top 100 Billboard chart?

For one, he has avoided profanity in his original songs and in his spoofs throughout his entire career, teens say.

Today, more often than not, chart-topping songs are littered with expletives that turn many kids off of the music. Ironically, a few of the songs that Weird Al has parodied have ended up much cleaner than when they started with the original artist's lyrics.

"He's an artist that I'm not afraid to listen to in front of my parents," ---------- said.

Another teen, ----------, said that it has more to do with separating herself from the crowd.

"Many teenagers jump on the bandwagon to whatever MTV tells them is in that week. Al's music has given me a way to rebel, without turning to the 'burnout' or the 'goth' crowd," she said.

The most common response, however, had to do with Weird Al's ability to recreate many hit songs while sometimes making them better than the originals.

"Al does today's kind of music, but with a comedic twist, so even though I'm not a fan of today's popular music, I'm still in tune with what's being listened to nowadays from listening," -------- said.

"Al is definitely one of the most underrated artists of today. He's truly a genius."

I took out names, but you can obviously figure out who said what by going back through the thread.

Note: It was a lot better before it went to the editor. They told me that I had a longer word limit then they gave me. I'll post the original later tonight! Enjoy!

PS: If you were quoted, and would like a copy of the paper, PM me with your address.

PSS: I was just assigned the review..so I'll post that in here too sometime Tuesday.

Thank you all again for your help!

That's a very nice article but...in all fairness, most teens don't want to listen to music with their parents and profanity and the such are what makes artists such as Snoop Dogg and Eminem popular, chart toppers.
