I tried to find a topic for this song, but I couldn't. Anyways... I really want to know something about this song, how many versions are there? I know that theres the one on Bad Hair Day, but then theres the one he does live which says...
"Yes, Virginia, now Santa Claus is dead
Some guys from the swat team blew a hole in his head
Yes little friend now, that's his brains on the floor
I guess I won't have the fat guy to kick around any more
But now Vixen's in therapy and Donner's still nervous
And the elves all got jobs working for the postal service
And they say Mrs. Clause, she's on the phone every night
With her lawyer negotiating the movie rights"

But I downloaded a song that goes a little something like this...

"Yes, Virginia, now Santa Claus is dead
Some guys from the swat team blew a hole in his head
Yes little friend now, that's his brains on the floor
I guess I won't have the fat guy to kick around any more
But now there's no more presents for the children's enjoyment
And the elves got to stand in line to file for unemployment
And they say Mrs. Claus, she's on the phone every night
With her lawyer negotiating the movie rights"

What's the deal with this?

The second version is the "Extra Gory Version." It's the one that's played in concert and is a B-side on the "Amish Paradise" single.

Remember to check the Individual Song Discussion sticky before starting a new topic about a song.

At the Konocti concert in 1999, a kid I was sitting near began sobbing quite emotionally as soon as Al started playing this song. His older brothers on the other hand were quite enjoying it.

The "snow" was great, being outdoors in the middle of summer and all. :)

First verse was for concerts, second was for AP single. Then there was the album version.

Wow, I feel so stupid for not checking there...

Anyways, I've only heard the 1st version in the WAY Live DVD. I found the 2nd version on LimeWire.

I'm pretty sure if it's on an out-of-print CD, Al won't be losing any profits from that.

Besides, "Don't Download This Song" is a satire.

All the more reason for Al to include it on GH3, IMO.

 , I don't think that you can find the 2nd version anywhere else.
