Aww, thanks, Manda. Send them to Al? That would be cool! I wrote mine a couple years ago. Al may have even seen it, since he apparently has been to the Yankonomicron site! AHHH!

Yankonomicron isn't my site, It's Betsy Manning's. She did a tv promo for VH-1 once. She's kinda not into Al fandom at the moment, but was kind enough to post my poem on her site back when I wrote it.

Hello, fellow Weirdos, and welcome to...the most annoying Topic in the WOWAY! But I guess you wouldn't have clicked your way here if poetry really bugged you, so keep reading, and if you, too feel inspired, maybe you'll add a verse of your own (lots of things rhyme with AL!)

I, Karen Taylor, the Compulsive Poet and eternal AL worshiper, will start you off with this one I wrote for Bermuda (I try to write ones about Al, but they're never, ahem, appropriate for all ages):

Ode To Bermuda

One day long ago at the Dr. Demento Show
“Weird Al” asked for a drummer and what do you know
There was one right there who fit the bill; you may have heard the rumor,
He had the most important quality: a great big sense of humor!
Al’s funny rhymes gave Jon-the-drummer a big grin on his face.
Al was just glad Jon was willing to drum on Al’s old accordian case!
The track they recorded is comedy history, a hilarious parody of Queen.
Now Al and Jon are part of the greatest live band the genre has ever seen!

Jon’s a really great guy by all reports,
And his stage name’s its own joke, Jon “Bermuda” Schwartz.
But it’s no joke how hard he works, his drumming fingers blazin’;
He’s the band’s drummer, webmaster, and also band/fan liason!
He talks to the fans, both male and female,
At the shows and backstage, but mostly by e-mail.
He’s a WOWAY moderator (that’s Al’s online forum.)
And all that is why all of Al’s fans so adore ‘im.
We love Steve, Jim, and Rubén, but Bermuda’s our pal,
He’s our link, making us feel like we’re close to Al.

OK! You're next! :Y

Praise AL!!

This one was family-friendly and quite enjoyable.

Gee, thanks, El, I'd forgotten I even wrote that one. (You're right; I managed to keep it lust-free.) I'm glad you enjoyed it.

No one's dared write a poem yet? Limericks? Haiku?

Al Haiku

I have tickets to Al's show
I know it will rock
But it will also polka

OK, that was lame... ;(

Anyone? Release your inner poet!

I wrote a poem about Al a few years ago. I posted it somewhere else in the forum, I just don't remember where. The last time I tried to post it from memory, I forgot a line. I'll try to find my poem for you, though.

I found it:

Al

I think that I shall never pick
One as nice as Al Yankovic
To be a fan of, this is true
He makes me happy when I'm blue
His curly hair and big brown eyes
Are enough to mesmerize
Some lucky fans he gives a thrill
Giving scarves and boxers at will
Oh, Al, we miss you, tell us when
You will go on tour again
Then to the venues we will go
And maybe meet you after a show
For all the wondrous things you do
Dearest Alfred, we love you!
