How would you classify Al's voice? I don't think he's exactly a tenor, tho' he certainly can do the high notes. Baritone?
I'd say Al is definitely a tenor. The pitch of his normal speaking voice is one clue. So are the songs where he's contrasting a "natural" singing style with outrageous lyrics, like "You Don't Love Me Any More" and "Good Old Days." And I think I read something where he said, in answer to a question about the truck drivin' song, that he had to record it first thing in the morning, when his voice was lower. But I find it impressive that he can manage to sound so convincing at both extremes of his vocal range.
