Yeah, that could be part of it. Sure, some songs have been repeated, but mostly Al's. And I just heard a newer comment that hadn't been played before. He must have recorded a lot of different ones. There have been some repeats on those, too, but that's ok by me! It's just the perfect thing to listen to as I'm scanning my concert pics.
Thanks, Al!

Thanks, SD! I just have to post the comment I just heard from Al: "I'd like to honor all the mothers out there. It's Labor Day, and we wouldn't be here if it weren't for you and the painful process of labor. Thank you, and Happy Labor Day." Both sweet and funny at the same time. *Especially how he said it*. You just earned yourself some brownie points with this mom, Al! Thanks!

Don't get me wrong, Patti! I really enjoy hearing Al on the radio! This is the first time I've heard so many Al songs on the radio in like ... ever! I DID stay up until 1:10 recording Al Radio, for cryin out loud!! I was just trying to give the people a clear description of what was going on, that's all.
BTW, I was up taping from 5 pm to 1 am last night. Here's a breakdown of the Al bits.
During the 8 hours I was listening, they played these Al songs:
Yoda (twice)
Bedrock Anthem (twice)
Ricky
Couch Potato
Like A Surgeon
Livin In The Fridge
Fat
My Balogna
Polka Party! (I really wasn't expecting this!)
Nature Trail To Hell
Ode To A Superhero
There were two short bits of fans calling in and thanking Al for their free Poodle Hat cds that they won from the station.
There were three songs from movies, that had quotes from the movie played over the songs, along with Al intros. Those movies (I can't remember all of the songs, sorry!) were The Breakfast Club, Back to the Future, and Caddyshack. [I think I was most excited about the second one. That is, I believe the first time ever that Al has made reference to my favorite movie ever!!]
There were a total of 28 (so far) original short bits of Al usually saying something funny about the fact that he was taking over the station for 3 days. Again, I'll go through and write them all down here, when the weekend is over. My personal favorite was just before Nature Trail To Hell, he said (paraphrasing): "Now we're going to hear one of my original songs. (sarcastically) YES! I wrote the MUSIC too! Who'd of thunk it?"
I stopped taping once I started hearing a lot of those bits being repeated, then I woke up this morning, turned on the radio, and immediately heard a new bit that wasn't played last night! I'm running out of tapes!

...I certainly didn't mean to leave you out...
Well, anyway, it sounds like it was a fun and eventful weekend for all you Detroit-ians...(and all those elsewhere who could pick up the broadcast...)..I've never heard Al before on the radio, but my sister did once doing a cover of a Rolling Stones song..I don't remember which one, but she was very excited...

Ok, Bruce the Duck. Glad to hear you're enjoying it as well. Isn't it great hearing Al's music on the radio, and NOT because it's Dr. Demento? Btw, I was up until 2:30 am and heard "The Scotsman". Now, that is not a song that is normally played on that station, so I think Al may have picked that one. Thanks for clearing up the phone call thing. I want that answering machine message!! Hehe! Oh, and the songs that go with the movies: "Don't You Forget About Me" ~ The Breakfast Club, "The Power of Love" ~ Back to the Future and "I'm Alright" ~ Caddyshack. And I agree, the epicenter of cinema in the '80's WAS Bill Murray in Caddyshack. lol!
Patti
still rockin' to Al radio
*hehe, hubby's been playing guitar along with some songs. But, when Bohemian Polka came on he said "I know when to quit." hehe!

No offense taken, hence the<Crying> Bruce...I'm SORRY......I certainly didn't mean to leave you out...

Hmm. Could have been "The Hot Rocks Polka" maybe? Actually the first time I ever heard Al was on the radio. While in the car when I was 10 years old, I heard "Fat." Since then, I've been hooked!I've never heard Al before on the radio, but my sister did once doing a cover of a Rolling Stones song..I don't remember which one, but she was very excited...

Like I've said, I'll compile as many of the clips as I can onto a tape and make them available for trade next week.
