Now that I've been watching the 200 Icons list, I can safely say Al should be on this list in a completely objective world. Come on... Dr. Phil??? Arsenio Hall???
I'm not saying VH1 purposely excluded Al but more than likely they just forgot him.
Yes. I agree. There are quite a few people who have interestingly been left off the list. Here are some that I thought of (you may not like all of them, and either do I, but they have a bigger part in Pop culture than many of those people (Monica Lewinski!).
"Weird Al" Yankovic
Ronald Regan
O.J. Simpson
Sesame Street
Pee Wee Herman
Shaq
Hulk Hogan
George Lucas (I can't believe they left him off)
Cheers
Tex Avery
Billy Crystal
Adam Sandler
Bill Murray
Billy Joel
and most importantly,
Tom Green (just kidding!)

I thought of another connection.
Al mentions the Three Stooges in the LAS video when they are paged.

Well, someone asked who #1 was. You can find out who all the icons were, and where they placed at vh1.com, but Oprah Winfrey was #1. Whatever!

Are you serious? Ugh. I hate Oprah. She is the most conceited, self-absorbed, ego-centric, obnoxious woman on television. Who was second, Barbara Streisand?
Here's an award for wining the countdown, Oprah -

How could number one not be either Elvis or the Beatles.
That's gross.

As one poster said, I think VH-1 was looking for "instant recognition" icons, as opposed to some true pop-culture icons (like Al, and those Bruce just listed).
I for one am getting a bit upset with VH-1. First they're "Music First," then "Home of the Greatest." Geeze, I would think of something like Yankees Stadium when you mention that line! Soon we'll be seeing them making lists like "Celeberties J.Lo is Likely to Marry" or "The Best 'VH-1 Movies That Rock' Ever Shown." A full-time AL-TV is worth more than most of the stuff VH-1 has to offer (not intended to say AL-TV is bad, but you know what I mean)! ARGH!
OK, I'm done venting my rage... :dontgetit:

WHAT??!! Over all those listed, Oprah wins??? WHAT IS THIS? WHO DOES THESE LISTS AT VH-1?!!
I never have associated Oprah with being the #1 pop-culture icon, nor would I think many others. That list is pathetic, not only for not mentioning Al and many deserving others, but listing Oprah at #1!

Yeah, this list is pretty sad. The Beatles were #12. #12! And Oprah gets #1?! Okaaaaay! Well, I will now post the entire list. And please, don't kill the messenger. I certainly didn't make these choices. Britney Spears in the top 20! Puh-lease! I'll do this in a couple of posts, since it is such a long list.
