That's awesome!!!

Looks like I won't be making it to this one. I mean, C'MON! It's only 1,600 miles away!!! :P <_<

Oh well, try to make it to the next one...if there is one...and it's nearish...

Thanks once again everybody for the suggestions and volunteering. Rest assured that I am trying to come up with an affordable venue. The Hilton is actually my favorite choice as far as the size of their conference rooms (I'm trying to come up with a room large enough where it can be used for everything at once, where we wouldn't have to have people navigate between separate rooms for vendors, etc. This may not end up being possible, since only the most expensive hotels seem to have rooms that large, but that's what I'm looking for at the moment.) However, using those large rooms at the Hilton costs thousands of dollars, say $6 to $8K. And I just don't see that working. Admission to the con would have to be pretty high to cover that kind of thing, and there are other expenses to consider.

Also, lodging at the Hilton is fairly high priced. There are plenty of motels in the neighborhood of the fairgrounds with two beds in each room that would be much more affordable.

Though I'm not ruling out hotels altogether, I've finished checking out the hotels in Costa Mesa and now I'm looking into non-hotel venues. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for updating Vikki, I know its hard to keep up with all this posting (A lot done by me :P ).

The Hilton is pretty high priced because you're paying for the name and the luxury that comes along with it. People who go there know they're in for a treat. But I can see why that would be out of questions since people already have to pay for airfare and they don't want to deal with an added load for admission.

Sadly, I'm not too familiar with the area, being a LA child, but I'm sure there are venues or places that just specialize in those types of banquets and conference rooms around the area. Especially near the airport.

Restaurants also tend to have those sort of rooms, but they're usually too small and obviously have to be centered around food.

If you need any help in finding info, feel free to ask! :)

The chances of me getting to go to this are very slim.. My parents don't even like driving me to Al concerts that are less than an hour away. I can't even imagine asking them to drive me across the country to see a singer they don't like.. Pfft! I need comfort food now. <_<
