It was good. Not much new info for me, but it hit most of the important moments in Al's life and career. A lot of same info as BTM, plus the major stuff that's happened since then. All the band members were interviewed, which was nice. And a lot more of Al's celebrity friends than were in BTM. Fun to see a lot of the fans who were at the OC Fair in the audience shots. It's almost like Al picked those clips for who was in them. For the brief second I was on screen, I don't even remember seeing the camera crew run by, otherwise I would not have been hiding behind my camera.

Drew Carey had some funny things to say. My favorite: (paraphrased) "Who do you think you are, Beethoven?"

Well, I was definitely impressed with this special. True, as mentioned, there wasn't really any new info. But, who could really expect info that we wouldn't already know.
I really enjoyed the spot on the band, and the Al, Suzanne, Nina spots at the end. It was nice to hear Suzanne talk more, and her mention of Bela and the personal Poodle Hat Cover. It was nice to see the concert footage from the OC fair. The interviews were also very insightful and added much into the special.
Very well done. Recorded it, and it will definitely be watched again.

It also helps that this aired right before my big paper on Al is due for my 80s class.

I highly enjoyed it.
I actually thought the disjointed formula worked better. I felt they were able to put in more info that way.

Yeah, otherwise you might not know about those songs and videos he did! (\sarcasm)
Is it me, or did they leave out any mention of OTDE and BHD except for the singles? I do wish they'd talked about songs that weren't made into videos. Also, I'd have liked a shot of Al's home studio.
Still, more Al than we usually get on TV. Thank goodness for TiVo; I set mine two weeks ago to record this, just to be sure. I'll burn it onto a blank DVD tomorrow so I'll still have it even if one of my kids accidentally erases it from the TiVo list, but until then, it's there when I have an Al craving...which is, of course, every second of every day. Hey, is there supposed to be smoke coming out of my TiVo box?
