Hi, my brethren. I've been too busy to sleep lately, not to mention my AIH is making clear thought impossible, but I did put something together to share with you...whether it strictly meets the definition of a "poem" is a moot point:

Ode To Al 8

I’ve been working nonstop on a problem
of great scientific interest (at least to me).
I’ve already determined by years of experimentation
that the pleasure centers of my brain are most keenly stimulated
by the application of music, images, and thoughts relating to a particular curly-haired accordion-playing rock musician/composer,
and now I’m experimenting to determine what dosage of this mood-altering essence should be applied for optimal enjoyment.

Committed as I am to this crucial research,
I have been using myself as a guinea pig (or possibly hamster)
and personally increasing my own dosage over the course
of the last quarter-century,
and I am up to a 24-hour-a-day application,
which I find extremely pleasurable but still suboptimal.

I believe that restructuring the solar system to allow for a 27-hour day
would bring the dose up to optimal levels;
however, I was so busy “working” on my Al “research”
that I never solved the problem of increasing the Earth’s orbit to extend
the hours in a day.
Perhaps Bermuda’s favorite band has got something. . .
Eight days a week might just do it.

:inlove:

...and back to a more "poetic" form of tribute to The Great One...

Ode To Al 9

A picture of Alfred is pinned to my wall
In a Hawaiian-shirt frame; gee, he looks like a doll,
So sweet and so friendly, a sexy smirk on his face.
I’m reading posts on the WOWAY, but keep losing my place.
Perhaps putting him up next to my computer wasn’t right,
For I find now I sit here and just surf all night.
His dark eyes delight me, his lips are so regal,
That I just drool on my keyboard like some dimwitted beagle. :9~

It’s his brain that enchants me, but I don’t have his number
So I can’t ever converse with him, which is a bummer,
But gazing at his sweet face fills my heart with the joy
Of knowing who the Great One is; it’s Nick and Mary’s boy.
His talent’s prodigious, infinite, unique.
Is it any wonder it is he we ALways seek?
Our DVD players, our IPods, our walls,
We fill them with Al stuff we pick up at malls.
We tour-chase as much as our wallets allow;
I loved him in the ‘80’s, but, gosh, look at him now!
As a fan, I am proud and am satisfied knowing
That he works hard and as an artist, he never stops growing.

Don’t know how he stays so humble when he’s just so grand.
He’s got my heart forever; the Al-Gals understand. :inlove:
There’s something more special than we could ever describe…
Al gives us joy like we’ve never known & it's quite a ride.
With Al’s music. live shows, personality, and beauty as my source of joy,
I’m assured many years of lustful comic bliss.
We Al-Gals are the luckiest people there are;
I can’t imagine Matchbox 20 makes people feel like this. |)

...funny that you bring that up...

I've been trying for a while to get "Poet Laureate" added as a WOWAY Awards category. If I'm successful (feel free to suggest it to your favorite Mod!), you can nominate me at the next Awards Nomination! :F

After all, writing AL poems is just as creative as any of the other creative categories in the WAs, yes?
