what is this with the "one-hit wonder, my ass" phrase? has it ever been suggested that al was a 'one-hit wonder'? i mean it's a cool phrase but i'm not sure it applies to weird al.

I guess it is to those ignorant fellows who look at "Eat It" or SLN and label him a one-hit novelty act.

Bob, yes, there have been people that have tried to label Al as a one-hit wonder. *Shocking, I know* If I can get a better picture of my poster, it really addresses how untrue that statement was at the time *and still is, since he's won another Grammy and released 4 more albums, an EP and another Cheesy Compilation since then*

People are stupid.

Here is a new picture of the poster. Sorry, this is the best I can do. You can read most of it. At least I can with my glasses on. LOL! I took it out of the frame. You can see how the poster lists a lot of what Al had accomplished up until Permanent Record came out, which was in 1994. The part at the bottom about Greatest Hits Volume II says: "The Edited version of the Box Set featuring 12 side-splitting smashes including 'Headeline News' ORDER NOW!"

:D

if certain people consider him to be a one-hit wonder based on "eat it" and others consider him a one-hit wonder based on sln then he's already not a one-hit wonder right there. ususally when a band is considered a one-hit wonder people agree on which song might be their 'one hit.'

The only thing weird about this to me is that Weird Al would use the phrase "one hit wonder, my ass" on his own poster.

Hmmm...that poster clearly says "15 Years Later" and as we all know, that box set came out in 1994...for a second there, I almost thought that whoever wrote that poster copy must have been trying to make us think that "My Bologna" or possibly "Another One Rides The Bus" was Al's "wonderable on hit"...

Well, that's precisely why Capitol dropped him, and why it was so hard for him to get a record deal after that: everyone judged him as a "one-hit wonder" before he'd even technically had a hit.

He should've called the box set that.
