It doesn't have to be anything super creative. Just wish Al a happy birthday, and tell him why you love his music, or something like that. I'm sure he'll appreciate whatever you have to say.

I just happen to have a video camera in my digital camera and would be more than willing to take video. I understand fully why you would want to give it yourself, heck, if I was organizing this thing and Al's last show was in Australia, I would want to spent the few thousand to get out there and show him that I did it too.

For anyone's gifts (Ambra's and possibly this along with mine) I will be taking pictures, okay, more like my dad will probably be. Not that he shouldn't be right there, but I mean, I paid for his ticket and even though he wants to go, we all know who the real fan in the family is.

Anyway, Emily, if you want to send it over here, I would be more than happy to give it to Al, explain how you organized this and the forum members wrote letters, notes, etc for his birthday, and video tape/take pictures of it. I'll bring an extra memory card just in case I take so many pictures that I only have 20 seconds left on the camera.

My load isn't bad at all, plus with extra hands along, I should get it down. I would be honored to give Al any of your gifts because I know that Al deserves the best for his birthday, even though we can't be there to celebrate it with him, unless I pack my binoculars and start searching the Hollywood Hills ...

If I can get the book done in time, I'll definitely send it to you Meli! Having you give to Al would be better than sending it to him C/O his management or something.

Sounds great Emily! I just think it adds to the personal touch to spend the time explaining it in person, and you can get those moments of, "Wow, I have the best fans ever," on video. And as soon as I get home, or after I get some sleep after just meeting Al and giving him birthday presents, which I will most likely be lying in bed saying, "I met Al...I met Al...", I'll post pictures and video of the events.

I wasn't able to get up to the Parkway yesterday; evidently it's not meant to be because I had a stomach bug most of the day. I took a pic on my deck but I look pretty much the way I felt--like death warmed over--so I'm going to take another one today after I get off work. My message will be pretty short since I told him why I love his music and everything for the 1000th show book.

Also, I'd like to suggest that anyone else sending Meli a gift for Al put it in a gift bag rather than wrapping it. That way, if security needs to check it, she can just open the bag up plus it'll be easier to carry.
