You're always going to offend somebody, especially with three million followers. And of course, Al is not exactly Rob Delaney; he's truly one of the most inoffensive celebrities out there and in every one of the instances you mentioned above, it's quite clear that these people need to just chill out.
However, I have much respect for the fact that Al owns up every time he realizes someone else had already made the same joke. Not all comedians do that, and it shows a lot of class and respect toward his fellow comedy peeps.

Well, so far the only Alaskan native who has replied, did so in an un-offended way and gave a real answer (inukuun) to Al's joke question, thereby increasing all our vocabularies. Respect to him. Three joke answers have surfaced (some from multiple sources) which I personally find funny, better than Al's, in fact, although very un-PC: Smallaskan, Eskimidget and Minuit. I think you get bonus points if that last height-challenged person is named Peter. Stay tuned for the next breaking news bulletin from the Twitter.

Al Yankovic@alyankovic
I'm having my gall bladder removed on Thursday. And eBay bidding starts in 3... 2...
You may now begin well-wishing, praying or collecting all your spare cash as may seem appropriate to you.

My mom had hers out during the 2010 tour; she's practically the reason we went to the show in Tulsa.
My dad told him the story after the show, and Al seemed very supportive (he even signed a card for her while she was still in the hospital!), so well-wishes go to Al!

I read that and now I am so confused
Al fits NONE of the five risk factors I memorized that predispose a patient to gallbladder disease!
The 5 F’s stand for female, fat, fertile, forty, and fair
Just glad to know there have been huge advances during my 30 years as a nurse and I hope Al gets a laparoscopic cholecystectomy with an uneventful recovery.
Keeping positive thoughts and sending <<Hugs>> to Al!

I think of surgical scars as tattoos with a better story.

Well, there's no reason to think he isn't fertile.

Haha- I sure don't want to get too personal here.
But regarding Al's risk factors it is my understanding that the "fertile" part is referencing that gallbladder disease is more common when an individual (usually a female) is actually pregnant or newly postpartum. It's all about the hormones baby!
(specifically the estrogen that can increase cholesterol levels in bile and the progesterone that can decrease gallbladder contractions)

My male cousin had his gallbladder removed in his late 20s, and it was so bad they couldn't do laparoscopy. So I'm sure anyone can have problems with it, regardless of risk factors

I really, really wish I did not look at the other picture. Things like that are exactly why I am going to school to be a medical assistant and not something involving surgery or anything. Drawing blood in enough for me.
