I decided to give this a try, and I got through!!!
I was so nervous, I wasn't even sure what to say. I can't remember his exact words, but here is the gist of the conversation:
I told him my name, and that I had given him some goodies last fall in Boston; he said he remembered me.
I told him we had just seen him in Lowell, MA, and it was a great show. He appreciated the kind words.
I asked whether he would tour in 2013 or take a break and he said he wasn't sure. He said he had thought he might take next year off because he thought he would be working on his album, but right now he's not so sure. He had hoped he would do more touring this year. The music industry is crazy, and artists make their money off touring.
Just to ask him a different question, I asked whether he likes Doctor Who, and if so, who is his favorite doctor.
He said he never really got into that show, although he has friends who tell him how great it is. I said definitely check it out. He wanted to know if he should start by watching the newer seasons, and I said yes.
That's about it... I was SO nervous, and I wish I could have planned more and/or better questions, but it was so great to chat with Al. He's such a sweetie to do this for his fans!
