ETA: I found it on my usual random google searching (today it was "weird al" + "colors"), but a search on webarchive.org shows that Al wasn't on that website last January, so the feature is fairly new.
Woah thats an awesome find!! Fantastic! And very nice pictures too! This must be for the flying sequence we saw mocked up in the storyboard drawings that were released to the OC Register

Okay, seriously, I feel like I haven't discussed this enough.

Al needed an open face early model helmet in a light gold color with purple stripe

I'm guessing he asked for those specific colors to keep coherence between the live action and the animated parts of the movie, but seriously, can you imagine working on a helmet store and have a (celebrity!) client make such an odd request? :P

What's weird about it? It's not like he asked for a Hawaiian-print helmet, or one with wings, or a beanie propeller...

Those were probably his first three choices... :P

err... no? doesnt seem weird to me at all? I'm wondering why it seems weird to you..
Also like the other suggestions. My friend Buzzy often used to wear a trademark hat with a propeller on it on stage :)

It makes a lot of sense, really. I mean they're on opposite sides of the colour wheel, and are therefore much more striking visual... thingy.

Minor update: the alsbrain.com domain now goes to the movie's page at the OCF web site.

And look where else Al's Brain is going: Puyallup!

Notice the webpage also says Al will be making a personal appearance there.
