He signed the Happy Birthday sign for me. One hug, and we were only allowed one photo, so I did me and Annette with Al and the sign. The pic is in the concert photos topic. I think that one hug was enough, and certainly meant more than he could ever know. The fact that he thanked me for everything just made it all the sweeter. I suppose I could say two hugs, since he did have his arms around both Annette and I for the birthday sign picture. Group hug!

Hey Patti! We could see you from our seats and it looked like you were having a ball! I totally enjoyed the concert, but I was SO bummed that he went up the other side for WBUL. I was on the end of the row on the other side of the auditorium! I had my hubbie all ready to take a pic if Al came anywhere near us. Wah! Oh well... I'm so sad this our last show for this tour... We watched the WA Live DVD this morning. I wish they would make a new version. I want every tour on DVD... :)

Anyway, it was a great evening... when's the next tour? ;(

That cake looks awesome Patti! I'm sure Al and the band enjoyed it! Sorry to hear about Scout; I hope the vet can figure out what's going on with him.

I know what you mean by Al helping you escape. I'm counting down the hours now until I finish my last shift before the concert. I don't get off of work until 1:00am so that six hour drive to Columbus is going to be tough but Al is worth it!

That was a very fine accordion cake indeed, Patti!

Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments on my cake. hehe, Al had gotten some Ding Dongs from the people in line ahead of me, so when he got my cake, someone said "I know what he's having for dinner." This was my first attempt at a sculpted cake, and I think it worked out alright. I've been decorating cakes longer than I've been making chocolates, so I guess those lessons I took 30 years ago helped. The fact that Al liked my cake certainly made me feel good, but hearing back that my friends here like it as well is really nice.

What a special night for you, Patti! I'm so happy for you that it all went so well, and the cake is great! You did very well if all that happened was a little smooshing--I can think of so many ways carrying a cake in a large crowd could have gone wrong! :oo

I figured out that if I had carried the bag my cake was in by the handles, instead of by the shoulder strap, it might not have gotten so smooshed. Basically, it really wasn't even that bad. The plastic from the window on the bakery box stuck to part of the top of the cake. When he said "I'm sure it's still good", that made my day. He did appreciate it, too, which was nice. I hope he likes chocolate, because that was a devil's food cake, covered with lots of chocolate frosting, and then with buttercream for the bellows and the flowers. It was fun to make, and I'd do it again, if I got the chance.
