Calling anything a "backstage pass" that isn't actually a backstage pass is even less ethical than selling backstage passes for profit

Yep, and I don't think it's accidental that they are clouding the definition and playing with terms, but I guess we'll know at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Thursday.

I'm weird enough that I bought my plane ticket already. They're pretty cheap right now, so I went for it before they decide to go back up. Cheapest I've seen them. Yay.

Same here. Better get them now when they're cheap than later.

That's a good idea. Everyone show try and get their plane tickets now for better prices. Good deals are given out way before the flight so look now.

Ah, so OC Fair mgmt. is playing fast and loose with words.

Now that it appears that Al is STILL not selling backstage passes, I've decided that the pleasure of not feeling conflicted outweighs the disappointment. After all, what Al sells is his work-- his recorded work in whatever format, and his performance. All those many many hours of meet & greets, autograph signings and general mingling with fans that Al has logged over the years are more along the lines of an amazingly generous gift. I'm sure it does encourage people to buy more stuff and certainly to attend more concerts, but still... the kind of focused attention and genuine warmth Al brings to those occasions goes beyond the usual run of celebrity-meets. He's there as a real person, meeting however briefly with real people. I think I'm just as glad not to have that turned into a commodity for sale.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I'm also glad because imagine all the people trying to get a backstage pass. Al is so nice to do meet and greets and he does it to meet the fans that made him who he is today. You can't buy that.

You know, this reminds me of the Oxnard show a couple years back. Apparently the venue that Al was playing at told people that their pit tickets counted as backstage passes without telling Al. He was awesome about it though, and he came out anyway to meet us. But I guess we'll just have to wait until Thursday to see what is up.

I'm glad it looks like that you can't buy these backstage passes. That makes me happier. I enjoy meet and greets a lot more when it's unexpected, a surprise, and more I treasure it more.

I'm trying to convince my cousin in San Francisco to come. He said he's willing to drive to Santa Ana.

I also found out that our concert tickets also count as free fair admission. That's good- I didn't want to spend another $7 a day just to get to the venue. It's bad enough paying $5 for parking every day.
