I didn't mean it that way, in the rockstar type way. I just meant since they've done it so many times they would know exactly what should be going on with the mic and accordion and maybe he just had a personal tech who did it for him before the show so he could just relax throughout the day. Its way different for say Jim who has to check out like 5 guitars and his effect board and what not. I know alot of metal bands that aren't quite as big as Al, and they have good friends that do it up for them on tour before the show, generally so they are not seen between bands 'cause metal shows tend to have at least 4 different bands playing at one show, thats cool he still does his own though.

Not to mention, he's a perfectionist. He'd want to be sure personally that everything sounded great.

Almost all artists do their own sound checks. Only they can hear what they hear in their monitors. I mean, whoever sets it up can check the monitors, but only the artist can decide what he/she wants to hear in their monitors (more guitar, more vocals, less Ruben, etc.) ;)

Talk to a sound guy (or girl), and they'll tell you there's way more to it, even if its the same person with the same mic with the same instrument. You have to EQ for the room, too. And if they're using speakers provided by the venue (it's on the rider, I believe, so I think it's a mix of their own load in and house), they have to learn how those sound, too. Maybe his mic tends to like 2k a lot, but then his mic through speaker "x" in room "y" needs more 2k than at the last venue.

Thought it was interesting to see yesterday:

Al Tweeted -- "Does anybody know the expiration on whoop-ass? I opened a can last week and I'm not sure if it's still good."

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin Tweeted -- "Cans of Whoop Ass DO NOT have an expiration date....Cause I Said So.."

Now, I don't know for sure that Stone Cold was replying to Al's tweet, but thought that was pretty cool. Even if it was just a coincidence.

Thats pretty funny. Especially if it wasn't a coincidence.
