Yeah, sorry, it wasn't meant as something new, I was just excited since I had only been to shortened sets this summer (San Diego and San Mateo) and I really like that song.

Thanks - I finally figured CBNC but didn't get the other. Gotta brush up on my Al acronyms.

Wow. Man I didn't even think to look to see if anyone I'd known from years back would show up.. or even recognize me (Hi Diva!)

For those that don't know or remember me I used to go by Spam_27 and this screen name. I live in Tennessee which has always lacked Al content. This summer, however, I got a chance to come to Fresno, California for 2 months and I had 2 things on my mind. Comiccon (which I didn't get to go to) and any Al concert.

After a tiring drive through a warp some that went from 105 degrees to 60 in ten seconds we got to Monterey and went to the aquarium before heading to the theatre. I ended up in the very ...very... back due to the procrastination of of the people I was with(bought tickets 2 days before :|). At some point during the show we were doing shadow puppets on the back wall because the lights were shining so brightly at us we couldn't look forward. Got me and my friend back home a tour shirt.

I definitely don't regret it though. Or making the people I was with stand by the bus. They were pretty skeptical that he'd actually show up, but very happy that I made them stay. Not the California experience I was hoping for on this trip but probably the only chance I'd have to see Al on this tour.

I'm heading back to Tennessee this Thursday.

A wonderful show! Like Kristine ( :w ), I had only been to an abbreviated show at Konocti this year so I was happy to hear a complete set. As my husband said, they "laid it all out there"! Guacamole doughnuts....

We arrived in Monterey just in time for lunch, which we had at the Turtle Bay Taqueria (thanks, Julie, it was great!). Then we walked around and looked at the fabulous cars lining the street...we walked past a 1967 Aston Martin Lagonda which was for sale....for $137,000. We watched the auction for a while and saw a car go for $485,000. It was amazing! I've never seen so many Ferraris... Finally we decided we would go get some dinner before the concert and were walking down the street towards Rosine's (thanks again, Julie) when we saw a familiar curly head coming straight at us...to keep myself from squealing I clapped my hand over my mouth-then I saw Suzanne and Nina and decided not to jump all over him like a puppy. As we brushed by each other, I pointed to my album cover shirt and said, "Like my shirt?" Suzanne smiled and said, "That's a good one!" We went on in to dinner, which was fabulous. A couple was seated right next to us and struck up a conversation with us, as they were going to the concert too and it was their first one. They were so nice and really like Al. I hope they come to this forum, I wrote it down for them.

After dinner, concert time! Gosh it was great, I've never heard Al in finer voice, and that guy can SING! We were showered with streamers and bucks and confetti, Zelda called him sucrose pickle, among other things, there were 19 doughnuts, as fred says. We had the purtiest ho ever, our cheerleaders were great, Jim's solo was extra-pathetic, the transvestites were invited to sing Yoda, BOTH aisles and some of the center seats got the WBUL treatment, all in all, if anybody there didn't have fun it was their own fault.

After the show was over we went around back to the bus. Steve came out and chatted with everyone and he kindly signed my shirt. And he didn't just sign it, he asked if I wanted something special. I couldn't think of anything, his signature is special enough! But he asked what I do for a living, and after I told him, he drew a globe with an origin and a destination on it on the top of my water tank. It is really cool and I was amazed he would take the time. I'll have to take a picture because I'm not explaining it well.

Then we got to see Al. All the clever things I wanted to tell him left my head, so I gave him a hug and he signed my shirt. I came home a happy person, and tonight I get to see them all again. Life is good.

Glad you enjoyed my recommendations! My son and I decided to eat at Jugem's. Yum.

I also saw Al as I was walking towards downtown. I was crossing the street on one side, and he and Suzanne and Nina were crossing on the other. (why oh why didn't I cross on the other street???)

Anyway, I didn't approach him, because three other people did. And I'm kinf of shy, anyway. I was so excited, though, because I have never run into him like that before a show. I wish now that I had talked to him.

And I found out that my daughter's boyfriend (he works for a local AV company) unloaded Al's equipment off the truck and into the theater!! My daugther sent me a text message saying "I saw Al's equipment!" So I texted her back, "LOL!".....it just struck me as funny.......

It was a great show, I wish I could have gone to more than two shows. And I got an autograph and a picture with Al! They wouldn't let us take pics last year, so that was a real treat. Except I look like a dork. Oh well, at least I didn't say anything stupid :P

Fred and I saw Al and family in tow as well.. I was texting a friend of mine and walking at the same time (i can multi-task pretty darn well..) and she goes, "Look up"... so I did, and Well Hello there!! We all smiled said hello and continued on just like you were saying hi to a neighbor. :)

I purposely looked at little Nina.. awwwww what a cutie!!

:D

I was in the front of the "standing outside of the bus" line cause I high tailed it out with my crew and parked myself. Infact I saw Steve drawing on JerAL's shirt and was wondering what he was doing heh. I still have a problem talking to people (even the not famous) though so I didn't say anything to him. I was probably pushed up to the bus when Al was sitting at the door.

Totally forgot pictures and everything. Just wave ticket ,babble about coming from Tennessee, wandered back to my friend holding my prize. Still an experience that makes me vibrate even though I own no less than half a dozen things signed by him. Which is probably nothing compared to some of you guys.

See I didn't even look at the group by the bus. We got in the car and left after the weird Backstage thing ..which wasn't really backstage.. It was weird.

Anyhow.. we were both tired I think.. I know I was anyhow.

I'm still weirdly shy around Al, as many times as I have talked to him, I still babble. I really don't think that ever goes away. In fact, at the Rockford show, I called myself a dork, and I think he agreed!

Oh well, I got a wonderful hug from him after Monterey .. no signature because I honestly didn't have anything for him to sign..so the hug did just nicely :)

And wished Jon a happy birthday with a Birthday hug for him as well. hehe
