What I don't get is why people are complaining about "Do I Make You Proud" as opposed to "Confessions Part 2", which I personally think is worse.
And I think American Idiot is worse. The reason people aren't complaining about the song you dislike is becasue everyone has different musical tastes. What is bad to some may be great for others. You should know that.
BTW, I really like Confessions Part II.

Yeah, I should have stated "in my opinion" when flatly calling DIMYP "bad". Not to sound like Craig Kilborn, but that style of song just isn't my cup of tea.
And I agree with Marko that of all the songs being parodied, "Confessions" is my least favorite of the bunch.
In my opinion.

I voted for taylor a gazzillion times for the finale, so i love him too- but that song they wrote for him just isnt that great of a song. simple as that. its not him- its the song.
well he obviously decided to go along with it, showing that he liked the song and would have no problem singing it, didn't he? I don't think he was forced to record a song he didn't like.
(note: I have not heard this song yet, so I don't know if it's good or bad.)
By saying they hate the song, isnt that implied that it's their opinion?
Anyway, I think that Hick's is a watered down artist whose sole purpose was to cator to a particular demographic for the purpose of a TV show. That's why his song is so cheesy, and is perfect for parody.

Hahaha... *ahem* sorry, did I just laugh out loud? He's under contract, his "people" decide what he sings. That's how the industry is run until you're big like Al. It's only then that the artist has more say in what he sings if he isn't composing for himself.

As far as hating on a song you don't particularly like, don't you think Al making fun of the song makes that parody all the better. For the last year or so I intentionally abandoned rock radio for pop radio to be sure I knew more Al parody fodder. I don't know if I like Usher Confessions, but to be honest I get it stuck in my head a lot and like listening to the music in the car on the way to work. It has so much potential for funny new lyrics.
Now, as for Mr. Hicks, I think this song is pretty good for a parody and it could be the kind of performance like One More Minute, where Al interacts with the crowd or acts sexy on stage like Germs or WBUL.

You know I think I could see that. He could really "Creep someone out" with this.
I'm actually really looking forward to this song for some reason. Maybe it's b/c I can see where Al will probally go with this idea.
i dont think that AL doing it makes, it better, but DIMYP is begging for a parody, which will be hilarious, and therefore make the song somewhat listenable.
