Woo - Hoo!!! I plan on ordering asap - 2 copies! One for me and one for my nephew who is very hard to buy for.

He always looks to me for a WeirdAl fix! He's 23 and has special needs, so when he found out I met Al and got his autograph, he figures I really am a "Close, Personal Friend"! Aren't we all???!! *Wink*!

Optimistically though, some online stores will ship out pre-orders as soon as their stock arrives (even though they're really not supposed to), so it's very possible that someone who ordered it early enough will get it on the release date anyway if not before. I had my pre-order for "UHF" arrive the Monday before, for example.

BUT, it's not a guarantee. The advantages to an online pre-order are more the assurance that you will in fact get a copy and, at times, that you'll get it for a better price than at a physical store.

I personally am not sure just yet what I'm going to do, but what I can recommend is if anyone is going to pre-order, stick with a retailer you trust, of course. Amazon for example is excellent at fulfilling pre-orders, and it looks like the set will be priced just high enough to qualify for free shipping there (and even they ship pre-orders out early at times, too).

Sort of off topic, but related:

If the 8/15 date turns out to be the official date, could that predict the new ALbum release? I would think he would not want to release them simultaneously (he could garner more sales releasing the DVD after ALbum 12). I would think a good three months between releases would give him plenty of time. If there was a May release of #12, then 8/15 would be a possibility.

Mods: If you can find a better place for my post, feel free to move it.

Isn't the album coming out in the first half of the year?

Yes. What Shakespeare was saying was that he thinks that three months between the album and the TWAS DVDs would be a good period of time.

It's a marketing thing. Al knows he can already count on people like us to buy his new CD, see him in concert, and buy TWAS DVD. There could be days or years between releases; we don't care (however the shorter the better). Then you have the off and on fans. They probably will buy the CD and then start listening to AL's previous stuff. After about three months, they would not have fallen out of his grace, and it would have been sufficient time after they expended the money from the new ALbum to make another AL investment (TWAS DVD). Then there are the new fans. You hook them on their first ALbum. They get pumped up over a concert. And then there is a DVD for them to buy. The time again isn't too short for them to break the bank, but then again isn't too long for them to move on to something else (not like anyone would want to after listening to the great weird one).

Just a thought.

Oh, and if I had to wait longer than 3 months, I think I would explode!!! (So maybe I am a little biased; but my thought process still remains the same.)

Well, actually I think most of the "general public" that buys the albums wouldn't really be interested in a DVD of his Saturday morning kids' show. I think only us die-hards would even care about the DVDs.
