Worst Song Tournament

I think Al just decided he needed to fill the medley up a little more and Girls happened to be (in some form) a food song. Apparently he didn't want it to live past one tour... haha.

Hog is fun to listen to. GJWTHL is funny, but not quite as fun. I can only listen LMBYH once or twice in a row but it's great to throw into a party mix... I've done it before.

Funny story: at someone's house I was given the opportunity to play one of my CDs at party. I took UHF. It was great. One of my friends recognized Money For Nothing, but the song was skipped before he realized it wasn't the original. I don't remember much else, but apparently someone had a camera at the party and posted a video on Facebook. One song happened to be playing throughout it in the background was... Let Me Be Your Hog.

That's the whole point of LMBYH. Why was it made? To replace Kung Fu Fighting.

It's a short little ditty that's completely out of left field. The reason it's short is because the joke can't go any further.

And therein lies it's similarity with GJWH; they're one joke songs, but LMBYH actually succeeds in being a funny song because it doesn't go for longer than it needs to, unlike GJWHL.

Sure, it has funny lines, but so does WYL and Date/Epic/Spartans/Disaster Movie. Those lines just go to show that the rest of it is abysmal.

I think of it like this: LMBYH is a Wayne's World sketch from when it was on SNL. Short, sweet, funny, and doesn't overstay it's welcome.

GJWHL is The Love Guru; One-joke, stretched out waaaaay more than it needs to be, with nothing inspired in it.

Not trying to step in on the argument here as I am the moderator of this tournament and everything, but you're basically saying GJWHL would have been ideal for the medley in 1985 and nothing further. Seeing as LMBYH is essentially just as long as "Take The L Out Of Liver" it serves that exact purpose without wearing out its welcome.

Sorry sorry, I know I shouldn't interject. Not casting a favorite here, just adding onto what MT was saying. And I'm only doing so because the vote is so skewed, we are essentially just running out the clock at this point anyway...

Also, Stephen, it's incredibly obvious that even AL doesn't like "Girls" very much. He only wrote it to appease his record label (which had much more control over him as he was still a very new artist at the time) that wanted a Cyndi Lauper parody. I'd bet you $100 that if Al were voting in this tournament, he himself would vote for "Girls."

Weird Al's Worst: The Elite Eight

At a score of 16 - 4, Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch advances. Let Me Be Your Hog will retire as the second casualty of Weird Al's Worst.

Rule Change: From now on, I will consider ending a match-up earlier than 24 hours if 1) there are at least 20 votes cast, and 2) one of the songs is leading by over ten votes. The decision to do this is, of course, at my discretion.

Weird Al's Worst: The Elite Eight

Our second of four match-ups in the Elite Eight is a 14 v 11 match. These are the only two remaining songs that are not rated 15 or 16, and therefore the winner of this match will enter the Final Four as the underdog of the tournament.
