Al could have seen the questions asked earlier if he searched #weirdal on twitter.

I hope that next time it's publicized a lot less so we don't get as many "When are you coming to Pittsburgh" questions.

This news is hopping around the Rock Band forums. One of the Harmonix developers said "This will be the first e-mail I send when I get into the office tomorrow", in regards to Al being in Rock Band. So it looks like the devs are going to pursue this. We'll see if it all goes through.

It seems that he's in discussions to create either a new tv show or a new movie...I'd love to see either pan out.

Wow, you're right. There's a whole thread dedicated to him.

There's probably a good chance of it happening now.

Keep in mind that most of what's "very interesting info" for us, would go way over the head of any casual fan (or non fan) who was just attending the event because it was featured on Ustream.

How is Al going to make new fans, then?

I did like that he plugged AlFest a couple of times :great:
I did say that a few silly questions are fine, but Jeez Ale! its like you are compelled to be contrary or something?

Surely you can see that all the time Al was filtering out the thousandth "make a parody of...."/"Come to my town"/"You da Man" type remark, would have been better spent aswering the questions that those remarks so rapidly displaced and buried.

Everyone, hardcore or casual fan alike would have preferred more answers to more reading Im sure

He himself lamented the passing of much better questions than the ones he was able to catch

Done.

But that takes away from the personal "chat" aspect. I liked when he mentioned how "interesting" it must be watching him read. In reality, it is kind of interesting- it's like a regular webcam chat, not some celebrity answering prescreened questions that some random person picked out. Instead, it's Al responding to things he's reading on the spot.

Oh I agree. I was just saying to those that were, for lack of a better word at the moment, complaining about the silence between questions; that would be the only other logical method of doing things to get rid of the silence but lose the personal chat. Its a give and take is what I'm saying :P

I haven't read any of the live commentary on the chat here in WOWAY.

My opinion of the chat, which I watched with my dad and brother, was that it was relatively interesting when he answered the insightful questions, but he spent too much of the time answering joke-questions. I liked what he had to say about behind the scenes features, compression in music, etc. But I didn't really care about his favorite brand of toilet paper. I know Al saw most of the questions we were all asking (I saw a ton of good ones), so either he was being too guarded with what he "is allowed to" give away. That being said, I did appreciate the candor that he was behind the Amazon sample being pulled down, and that the real reason for his secrecy was artistic. Overall, I think Al could be a little less secretive, but I understand where he's coming from. I also think Al was being a little too G-rated or politically correct with his choice of questions to answer. After a certain point, I asked questions I knew Al wouldn't answer but it would at least be an inside joke between Al and I as he read them.

I think the solution to all of this is that Al should either take questions for 24 hours and pre-screen them, so he can answer the best or most insightful. I get that they were flying by (considering there were 1700 watching at one point) and he couldn't sort them out that quickly. So hire a moderator (paging Mr. IT Guy?) and/or select questions in advance next time, Al. I beg you!

Another thing is: I would have REALLY liked it if Liam Lynch had been there as Al suggested. It would have focused the questions more on the making of Craigslist, and that's what this stream should have been more about.

Don't tell me that! Great...if this does happen, I'll have no choice other than to buy Rock Band :(

Well I asked one question kind of like that...
But it really wasn't meant to be like the stereotypical 'come here' question, but more of a technical question I guess...

I said:
'What will it take for you guys to come to Hawaii for shows? any chance?'

It was inspired partly by the release of 'We've Never Been To Hawaii' and how he has a home here now and everything too...
I seriously just wonder what it would take...=/

I hope that one of the "really good questions that he can't answer" was my question about what was he doing with Paul McCartney at Coachella :D
