Dear Al,

There are so many things to thank you for. As my friend Autumn said, you inspire people, including me. I've done so many things that I couldn't have done with you and your music. When I ran the marathon, the only thing that kept me going after the incredible pain I was going through, was just the fact that I could listen to you while I limped to the finish line. When my dog, Fred, died, I listened to your music just to stop me from crying. Even when I got a puppy, named him Harvey after you famous wonder hamster and he died four days after I got him, your music was there. Now, with a new puppy named Larry after your song, I am able to listen to you and be happy, now matter how bad my day was.

You also can make people so much happier, by doing a usual thing that most musicians do. I saw you in concert two days ago, and I was so happy to have been able to, that it didn't matter that I had summer school the next day. Even though I didn't meet you and that it is my dream to at last do so, I think you doing the meet and greets at shows is just amazing. You make people from all different ages that much happier, just by signing something of theirs, and taking your time out to do so and even make small chat.

So, Al, to close off this letter post, I just want to say, that you make being a teenager and going through change and hardship so much easier for me to deal with. I await the day that I can hopefully see you in concert again and possibly even meet you. Thank you Al, for being yourself and making this wonderful music.

Sincerely yours,
Melissa

Al,

I want to thank you more extensively. I do believe that if it weren't for you and your music and you just being yourself, I wouldn't have made it through many things in my life. Growing up wasn't an easy thing for me, I thought several times that I would completely lose my mind, but then I would retreat to my room and turn on your music and start to sing along and instantly feel better. I can compare how your music was for me to how you described it 3 years ago. You stated that your music and performing for us fans was somehow therapeutic and that is how I have always felt about it. And when I lost my Mom 3 years ago on 2/29/04, I would play your songs and it would help keep me from crying so much. I hope I will be able to meet you in person one day so that I can thank you properly for just being there without really physically being there.
Thank you so much for being there and being yourself :)
I will talk to you again later Al.

Well, I'm thankful for Al for a lot of things.. He introduced music to me. Heck, before Al, I didn't even know who the Beatles were! He also taught me to smile. I was in a deep depression and Al helped me out of it. I hope I get to meet him one day so I can personally thank him :)

Never stop making music, Al! WE LOVE YOU!

I, too, was depressed most of my life growing up. I was a miserable person and if it hadn't been for Al's music being there when I needed cheering up the most, I think I quite possibly would have gone completely nuts! No exaggeration. This is another reason I love Al so much. I feel like I have known him forever!

I do too. I have a chance to get a letter to him that says this very thing, but I'm still a bit chicken lol
Should I be chicken? Or should I just write it?

I think you should just write it. It would probably make Al very happy. Besides, Al is a vegetarian. He wouldn't like you if you were a chicken. :P

LOL I hear ya!!
Yeah, I should write it. But man I'm nervous!! I know that I will never get a response back, but I guess at least he'll know how much he means to me.
I wonder if I should mail it to him or have that someone deliver it for me? Probably mail?
