At the riscue of sounded dirty minded, ewwwww!!
I thought the imagery was good and it expressed the idea properly. The rhymes didn't sound forced that much and it was a nice rhythm. All in all, a very nice and comforting poem to read.

I can't believe no one's posted here for over a month! Where are you all, Al-poets? Anyway, here's my latest...please bear in mind that it's 2 a.m. here and I'm not well...
I dream of a day when Al knows my name
And were not kept apart by his fans or his fame
When I call L.A. home cause I work in the biz
And my hubby and I have a home close to his.
Sure, its just a dream now, but it could happen someday
(I am working right now on my second screenplay!)
And my son and Als daughter could hang out at school
And discuss how their dads are both funny and cool.
And whenever I went out to take a nice walk,
Id run into Suzanne and wed both stop to talk
And Id ask her to thank Al for all that hes done
For my life and for helping me find my true one.
And when Al drove by our house, hed wave to my son
And sometimes wed all go bowling, and itd be so fun.
Okay, clearly Im dreaming, but whats wrong with that?
Ive followed his career from first LP to Poodle Hat
Hes affected my life so completely and well
Hes one reason I hope my new screenplay will sell
So someday I can live close to Als neighborhood
Because he is the best and that would be so good!

Thanks, Terri. Glad you enjoyed it. I was in a sort of Elizabeth-Barrett-Browning-meets-Kevin-Smith mood...
Here, I'll take another stab...
I would wear ugly shoes
I'd put broccoli in booze,
I would walk to Nepal,
I'd do anything for Al!
I would give up a kidney,
Move my family to Sydney,
Write Al's name in the sky,
I'd do anything but die!
For Al, I'd wash dishes,
Give a genie three wishes,
Shoot my best friend's best gal,
I'd do anything for Al!
I'd stand naked in Times Square to advertise his new CD,
Go over Niagara Falls in a barrel containing just a wolverine and me,
Write a thesis on the historical significance of films by Leni Riefenstahl,
Let's face it, I would do anything, absolutely anything for Al!
(Including, apparently, writing really stupid poems!)

um, anyway...who's next?

Wow, violence and nudity...I dunno about the shooting part. I wouldn't shoot anyone. Not for Al, not for anyone.
I liked the other poem better.

Twas The Time Before A New Al Record
Twas the Friday before Christmas
And the postings were scattered
Not a soul poster commented
On the topics that mattered
The forums were few
And not at all random
We're all praising Al
For we're part of his fandom
The children were posting
All snug with their mice
While visions of Yankovic
Added quite a bit spice
There's Bobbi with her talents
And Patti's miles of devotion
Had 50 thousand posts between them
And from them, no commotion
When out in the industry
A new album's in queue
A new Al creation with
Songs, parodied and new
I sprang to Best Buy
With money to spare
To see all the humor
I was sure to be there
I tore open my wallet
And out flew the cash
"Give me a new ALbum"
I proclaimed, in a flash
The light on the plastic
It gave such a glow
As I paid for my purchase
I smiled, don't you know
As I walked out of the store
With a new ALbum so near
I yelled, "Merry Christmas,
And a very 'Weird Al' New Year!"
Merry Christmas (Happy Holidays) everyone! I hope you all have a fantastic (and Al filled) New Year!
